It's a legitimate question actually. Thoughts?

Ghost jobs
>>
>>544883758
Tranny and jeet coders created jobs for highly skilled White men to clean up their messes. AI is trained on tranny and jeet code. It creates jobs for White men much more efficiently.
>>
>>544883758
Because they fire americans for jeet slaave labour
>>
>>544883758
they arent, this either post-summer-holidays job postings creating an illusion of an uptick, or simply hot air/fake to begin with
>>
>>544883758
>Invent the shovel
>Why are there all of these new shovel-operating jobs being posted? It just doesn't make any sense!
>>
>>544883758
It was always the main task of every coder is to automate his job. That is why the most geniuses there are the laziest people. There is nothing new with AI, just another tool that allows you to play playstaition instead of working.

Fixing the vibecoders mess

It doesn't explain why software engineers didn't disappear. Yet.
>>
>>544883918
this 100%
>>
>>544883758
Postings are on the rise. Not the actual hired or wages.
The reason is that the corporations are legally obligated to post positions before denying everyone and hiring foreign workers on the cheap.
>>
>>544883758
Because you cannot patent any code written by an LLM.
>>
>>544884258
LLMs are cheaper than foreign labor.
>>
>>544883758
So the people that come on here complaining about losing their jobs are just terrible at coding?
>>
>>544884258
This is half cope. After all the social media shitstorm of indian companies fucking things up soon HR roasties and CEO's are going to get the ick.
>>
>>544884300
I dunno, I suck but I kept my job.
Maybe they fire the good ones?
>>
>>544883918
This. It's a huge problem in the tech sector, and often times used as justification for H1b apps. Maybe that will end soon though?
>>544884187
They won't vanish. Non-technical sorts don't know how to prompt a model effectively enough to even vibe code without wasting time and money. Or causing further issues down the line.

You still need to know how to code if you're vibing professionally, as to why it's on the rise... mass rehirings to clean up all the slop that's been genned?
>>
>>544884348
If you think tech CEOs are going to go back to paying domestic workers high wages you're dreaming.
It would take the AI bubble collapse, a complete tech reset, and then maybe another few decades or more for a new type of tech engineer that works in unison with an AI software that hasn't been created yet to become a viable profession again.
>>
I only use LLMs to check my code.
I don't use it to write English or code, because I'm pretty sure I would lose those skills if I did.
>>
>>544883918
Basically HRs trying to look busy
>>
Over the course of the last year my day-to-day in a tech job has turned into managing a handful of Claude code sessions all day. I'm busier than ever.
>>
>>544884416
Thats what I heard in 2024. And 2023. Just two more weeks and AGI is right around the corner. Trust rakeesh on this one.
>>
>>544883758
Job postings != to an available job.
>>
>>544884187
Its still prone to errors or bugs. Its not good enough to just build everything on its own exactly as the creator wants it to.
>>
>>544883758
I will post again but nobody will listen again. I own and run a medium sized IT company. we quickly incorporated AI services after some clients started inquiring about it. at peak we had ~70% adoption rate. today we have zero clients using it. #1 complaint is was accuracy/correctness, #2 was cost. both are going to be hard to fix for the "AI" industry.
>>
>>544884926
The world's shittiest software company, Microsoft, is all in on "AI coding". Says a lot.
>>
>>544884525
Why do you think everybody in tech is praying for the bubble to pop? It's not JUST because we want prices to go back down.
>>
to hire indians
>>
>>544885516
>>544884525
It will pop and no company is going to self host and train their own models. Model collapse is very real and training is expensive thats why openai and anthropic are unprofitable. They cant just keep the indians and offshore because well they already tried that and it didnt work. This time they are trying indians but with AI and well we all know AI isnt going to last much longer. Its obvious the whole thing is a scam continuing to run by borrowing more debt than last time. We all know how "more debt than last time to keep going" goes.
>>
>>544885492
But thats only being microsoft employs a large number of indians that would be worthless without the assistance of AI. hell even with the help of AI the indians at microsoft are still underperforming.
>>
>>544884288
They actually aren't.
>>
>>544884187
I code. AI code is fine for the average person but it's not advanced enough that it can run on its own without someone checking it. AI assisted coding is the future, it won't eliminate jobs but it will reduce the number of coders that are needed.
>>
>>544884187
Of course you are always going to need senior engineers to make sure it isn’t full of bugs
>>
>>544883758
my job is to literally marvel at jeet ai code and fix it. it costs more to have me fix it than to just code it myself.
>>
>>544885448
>>544885482
LLM's are going to make fatal mistakes and its impossible to fix that issue. Its a completelt unreliable product on its own and requires a trained human with the knowledge and understanding to know when LLM's make mistakes, for which at that point why even spend the money on tokens if you have to have a human in the process to begin with?
>>but its faster
impossible because while it can spit out code quick the human still has to take the time to understand it and make sure its correct nullifying any speed gains the LLM gave you.
>>
>>544886144
and without juniors, seniors have no one to train, so when there's nothing but jeeter ai, and retired seniors, we're gonna see some real shit.
>>
>>544884926
The models are legitimately better, it's true. But output still must be reviewed thoroughly (which most devs lack the skill to effectively do), and and problems AI can't solve are still a regular occurrence. If you're a "vibe coder" and you hit one of those UH OH STINKY
>>
>>544883758
Because a whole bunch of people want in on the ai train and they still need someone to build shit
I've done contacting for years and there's still plenty of work, nothing's changed except being able to pump out more quicker
>>
>>544883953
Trannies are God-tier programmers because at the core they're still hyper autistic white men.
>>
>>544886213
we had to put a "probabilistic" clause in our SLA which caused most businesses that actually read it to inquire and inevitably decline AI services.

AI costs will rise once everyone is reliant on it. It'll rise until we are back to the point where jeet labor will result in a sub mediocre product at a tenth of the price.

I see far more people talking about being employed to clean up jeet/AI slop. Like me. Several years of jeet slop cleanup, and now I've transitioned to into AI stewardship. The latter aligns with my skills quite well after spending years going security code reviews full time in my past life.

those job postings? automating software development or other white collar work
it's momentary
>>

Monetary? That's been like 90% of software development from day one. It's obvious you're not a software development or you'd know that automation is part of the order process.

T. 15 years SWE

AI can write code it's true. AI can write lots of code that's also true. But I fucking promise you that what AI does for me and what it does for the fat replaceable foid who wrote this doesn't understand is that pumping out code is just a tiny part of the job and software is so much more than just pumping out lines of code every time you have a shower thought
>>

Also ESL types probably write shitty prompts. One needs white people to clear up the mess.

This is a big one. They come up with a brilliant app but have no idea about key vaults and private endpoints, etc. We need humans to be the guardrails, at least for now

>>
>>544883758
AI may copy and write code, but people still need to read, implement, and test it.
Earlier this year there were tons of posts about apps and even full games being made with AI. Months later, with improved models, all those have never materialized.
>>
>>544883758
If you don't understand why human developers are needed at this point then you're retarded.
>>
>>544885516
Point is it's not going to happen any the lifetime of anyone currently alive.
They're going to run this scam for the next 50 years or longer if they can.
It'll be like the whole personal computer revolution where we experienced around 50 years between the 1970s to the late 2010s of garbage overexpensive hardware, for it to become sort of affordable and start making sense in the 2018 or so.
We're currently in that 1970s stage with AI.
By the time AI becomes worthwhile to exploit with personal coding projects we'll all be either dead or a few years from dead.
>>
>>544883758
because you retards don't know what software development is
>>
>>544884187
Momentum. AI has really only been good enough to do all coding for about a year. Companies have been in a "no-hire, but allow attrition to let the numbers drop" scenario for a while.
>>
>>544883758
>It's a legitimate question actually. Thoughts
because most coders aren't retards, but most normies are, and even if ai can build something fo ryou, you have to be a non-retard to build something of quality. the biggest problem in coding isn't writing the code, it's that management literally look like a bunch of doubly retarded down syndrome motherfuckers trying to communicate what they want (which they dont even know themselves and if they did can't put into words for the life of them)

tldr: because most coders are not retards, most normies are retards
>>
>>544886213
Do you verify the machine code your compiler wrote was correct? It's not 2024. AI doesn't make mistakes writing high level code.
>>
>>544884267
You cannot parent code practically anyway

Do you work with software? I feel like you don't.
Reviewing and understanding written code takes much less longer than writing it. And review loops when set up, catch a lot of bugs.
Generally code quality might go down a little, but with a properly configured harness I can shit out featured I would normally spend close to a week on, in a day while building another 4 in parallel.
I am just a simple web developer, but currently as a hobby project I am building a rust based game. It won't help me with assets much but has been really useful refining my ideas, structuring priority and dependencies, then doing dev work.
All while I am leaning blender, working my job or playing video games.
It is a productivity tool when the harness is set up, and not just for prototypes.
>>
>>544891077
It does make mistakes, and if you don't review properly they will slip in. Though a fresh no context agent often finds the most harmful bugs. So ensure you have a good review loop and still try to grasp the important bits in your pull requests.

idc.
i'm not learning programming to get a job.
just like i didn't learn drawing, music or woodcrafting/blacksmithing to get a job.
i learned it so that when i am finally free of this world i can live off the land without depending on the AIgolems and the prison they built for themselves.

daedalus building his own prison vs oddyseus minding his own business and enjoying a 20 year vacation.

fuck these AIhos and their cuckcoding, i'll be the sole man living his life.
