President actually has some power, if they did not have any power no one would be contesting the presidency.

The powers of the president include representing the country internally and abroad, politically agitating by constantly calling for vetoes and referendums to troll the parliament (Even when he is overruled, it still causes a scandal), commanding the armed forces, pardoning criminals, and bestowing or revoking citizenship.

These powers are not nothing, they can actively be used to support the parliament and ruling elite, or can be a thorn in their sides. Pardons are almost always political/financial dealings btw.

Notice Radev played president well and made a genius move by stepping down and winning the parliamentary majority while his loyalist yotova was president, so for ~6 months he could strengthen his control with pardons and solidify his position in the new order. Likewise, having her as president makes sure she won't go against him or agitate in any way, it's the most "nothing ever happens" status quo situation. 50% of the damage is already done in these 6 months imo.

Meanwhile if a more oppositional candidate were to win (Gyurov or Kostadinov, 2nd and 3rd respectively) then they would agitate, cause scenes, command the armed forces, and stop total political consolidation of Radev.

Gyurov will agitate against socialist policies, will be more pro US/Isreal/EU on the world stage, and will stop total consolidation/pardons.

Kostadinov will agitate for less immigrants, might militarize the border guards, might revoke citizenship, and be even more pro russia / and pro AFD on the world stage.

In my humble opinion, the best choice is to vote whoever except iotova in the first term, just to ensure she does not get 50%. Alot of wars and elections are happening rn in the world and the 1 extra week we get for second round may change things.

Personally I am voting for Kostadinov 1st round then Gyurov second, I don't even particularly like either, but you have to understand the president does have power and his power is in trolling the status quo. Any candidate against the status quo is therefore a useful vote. The more radical they are the better.

>>544898235
Also this guy is absolutely right, foid president during peace time is already disastrous, now imagine when we are in a war how bad it will be... For this reason alone it makes sense to vote for any man candidate, even if you disagree with them politically.

>The powers of the president include representing the country internally and abroad,
aka going on taxpayer funded trips to smile for the cameras while the presidents of actual presidential republics make all the decisions

>politically agitating by constantly calling for vetoes and referendums to troll the parliament (Even when he is overruled, it still causes a scandal),
They get overruled every time and the scandal dies down in a week. Source: the euro

>commanding the armed forces
Doesn't mean shit during peacetime and we would have bigger problems if Bulgaria and by extension NATO find themselves in a war. No, sending some cold war junkyard finds to Ukraine is not being at war
>pardoning criminals
Nobody cares
>and bestowing or revoking citizenship
Aka signing whatever paper foreign affairs places on their desk. Also a nothingburger for everyone.

Even if you pick an opposing president at best Radev would use him as a diversion and at worst nothing happens as his scenes would amount to nothing but a few minutes on the news

Hmmmmm....

>"aka going on taxpayer funded trips to smile for the cameras while the presidents of actual presidential republics make all the decisions"
It's all soft power which the elites take very seriously, no one around Radev wants Iotova to win so that she can go on tax payer funded trips and take some presidential salary, they understand that their is very real soft power at stake here and want her in for 5 years to benefit their entire clique, likewise for the opposition wanting her out, I am also blackpilled on politics in general like you but the actual politicians are not, they are playing to win and have actual bets at stake.

>"They get overruled every time and the scandal dies down in a week. Source: the euro"
Radev only publicly called for euro referendum after it was already a done deal, politically calculated move, to seem neutral and to reap benefits after. A more radical president could have supported or opposed the euro even at the cost of their own political power / neutrality as president.

>"Doesn't mean shit during peacetime / war"
Kostadinov said he would militarize the border, does he actually want to, can he, or will he cuck out, probably cuck out, but regardless that sets a precedent and puts it in the minds of people. Gyurov will also agitate in a pro NATO way, will he cuck out, probably yes also, but it changes the power balance and fractures the elites.

>pardoning criminals
>Nobody cares
Like I said before, pardons are all political or financial maneuvers, they get quid pro quos for pardons and it gives them more flexibility when political issues arise.

>"Aka signing whatever paper foreign affairs places on their desk. Also a nothingburger for everyone. "
You are right about this one, but if the parliament falls the the president appoints caretaker ministries, so that's one more power, and the presidential election is always after the parliamentary election, so you do have some time for a potential caretaker government.
>>
>>544901533
fake as shit
member last elections?
Yotova is probably at 47%

>"Even if you pick an opposing president at best Radev would use him as a diversion and at worst nothing happens as his scenes would amount to nothing but a few minutes on the news"
And yet, Radev wants Iotova to win, if an opposing president really could be used as a diversion or a nothingburger then why even pay for her election billboards? Certainly that money would be more useful elsewhere for their parliamentary party right? Unless you believe it is all theater, undoubtedly some of it is, perhaps even a majority, but their is still some actual power at stake here, that is politics.
>>
>>544901637

Ah, this propaganda piece. We used to have it too. The president is ceremonial, he doesn't really have any power. Then everybody shat their pants when an irregular glowie almost won the election and now everyone is fuming the current one tries to bring balance between the factions instead of favouring the progressives.
Because it turns out he doesn't have power in governing the country, but has a shitton of power in external affairs, secret services, military and so on.

>but if the parliament falls the the president appoints caretaker ministries
Like when Radev appointed Petkov? PP is the one barking against Radev non-stop and has been for a long time.
Obviously it harms his image if his VP doesnt become president but it won't be a major loss if Gyurov/Kandev wins

>>544901785
OK and? He called for a referendum before the euro and was ignored. He vetoes a law and it gets passed anyway. When Plevneliev held a referendum for nuclear power and 60% said yes what happened? Oh right, a law proposed by DPS cockblocked us, there was public outcry for a week and nothing else changed. Same as with the euro. People still moan but it passed. Yeah PP got "punished" by being opposition now so all they do is collect paychecks and complain like the others

>>
>>544902316
Slavi had some merit, since he was at least entertaining while their party was relevant. PP was just evil, not even in a funny way
>>
>>544902085
>but if the parliament falls the the president appoints caretaker ministries
Last time PP won and did nothing it showed they were cucks and then they lost alot of support. If Gyurov wins and acts neutral and supports Radev PP will become totally irrelevant. Not just politically but ideologically aswell, hollow party.

Radev appointed Gyurov/Petkov to maintain neutral face so that he could line up a parliamentary win, a radical president might not do so.

All my other points stand.
>>
>>544902658
I've never seen him outside facebook even once(drug sickness or whatever). It was all his scenarists talking and doing shit.
