The year is 2050The U.S. is roughly 45% unemployable, barely literate brown people who make up a mega-swath of the perpetually poor slave class. They all need cheap vehicles, so the demand for table scraps from the middle class (“used cars”) is into the stratosphere.Meanwhile, dozens of companies like Carvana and Carmax create a de facto bidding war for every used car being sold by original owners.Millennials (the new Boomers) are selling their model year F150 single cab V6 XL’s for $40,000 because “they know what they have.”Everyone continues to blame Cash for Clunkers, a program that ended in 2009.
>>544976321*model yeah 2031, back when things were made better.
>>544976321>The U.S. is roughly 45% unemployable, barely literate brown people who make up a mega-swath of the perpetually poor slave class.so, california today?
>>544976422Note that the used car market is the worst in California, and retards currently blame Cash for Clunkers.
>>544976321>Take clunkers>Blow up and burn clunkers >Force the poor masses to buy new carsKek
The 27 year old car that would have married me was aborted by obama :(
>>544976495Cash for clunkers was 20 years ago. It has zero effect on today's used car market. The reason used car prices are high is because demand for used cars is high because the cost new cars is even higherAin't nobody crying about the 1979 Plymouth or the GMC Jimmy that were crushed into scrap in 2009. Because cash for clunkers had a strict criteria for what was considered a clunker
>>544976321Well, the thing is, Cash for Clunkers was only one half of the issue. The other issue is that cars being built ever since are purposefully built to not last past a decade so you buy another car. It will be very rare to see a 2020s or 2030s model of vehicle in 2050 because the overwhelming majority of them will be scrap by then. I would say the latter aspect will be more relevant in 2050 but Cash for Clunkers certainly was a "kick off moment" for this new era of used cars. It removed a ton of vehicles from the road that were made in eras where vehicles were more built to last.
>>544976321I remember riding with my grandpa to trade in his old chrysler minivan during the Cash for Clunkers thing. They wouldn't take it, lol.
>>544976983>The reason used car prices are high is because demand for used cars is high because the cost new cars is even higherIn other words, people are too poor to buy new cars. New car prices have risen substantially less than inflation and overall consumer prices. There are roughly 100 million brown people in the US legally classified as “Americans” who comprise the overwhelming majority of the poorfag demographic. If we had 100 million Northern Europeans instead, no one would be complaining about used car prices. Instead we have spics creating an unprecedented demand for used vehicles. At the same time, just two companies, Carmax and Carvana, accounted for 15% of all used vehicles purchased from their original owners. Factor in all of the other companies operating in the same business (Give Me the Vin, Driveway, Peddle, Edmonds, Cars.com, and probably a dozen others) and suddenly it’s a sellers market.
i also watched the RCR video on cash for clunkers
>>544977057Ironically, EV’s will outlast everything else. >muh battery!Kys boomer.
New cars are terrible ipads on wheels with far too much electronic bullshit thrown in there just because. Also cvts. Fuck the government, they won't let me buy a Lada because muh sanctions but they have nothing to compete with it here.
>>544977713Lol ok. No one wants them and the battery does not last at all you retard. Enjoy dying in the snow.
>>544977608>people are too poor to buy new carsthey have been for a long time unless you consider financing ownership.
>>544977057The average model year turned in during the program was 1996. Outside of Japanese cars, this was right around the time that American manufacturers finally got their heads out of their asses and stopped coasting on a decades-old reputation. Of course there are exceptions, but most American vehicles from 1980 until the mid or late 1990’s were trash.
>>544977762No one wants them because the public is composed of poor people and retards. Again, there are 100 million barely-literate spics in this country. Popular opinion of the American public isn’t a good metric for anything.>>544977823Yes, people are retarded and would rather finance something “nice” than own something they can actually afford outright.
>>544978028>the people are too poor to afford [thing]!Pic rel are the people.
