The German general staff knew in the 1910s that if Russia ever got its shit together and industrialized they'd be completely unstoppable. That was one of the reasons they pushed for WW1, and later on was one of the reasons why Hitler decided to attack them while Britain was still in the war.

>>544990804If Hitler was smart, he just wouldn't have attacked Poland.The Soviets would've then attacked them first and Germany could've joined the Allies and likely been able to carve up Russia.The strategy kinda works in HOI4.
>>544991456That's exactly what hitler tried to avoid by getting pooland first. His target was to extend east terretory without having to engage russia. if he would have waited, russia would have taken poland. they where weak and easy to overwhelm. taking them first was the only option.
