USA is an objectively richer country than Canada. Yet Canada has universal healthcare, and USA does not.

Why is this?

Wierd flex but ok

Imagine paying thousands of dollars in insurance, and still having to pay the hospital thousands of dollars, then thinking it's a flex because a Canadian paid.... $0 in insurance and hospital fees?

It costs you $50,000 to get your knee replaced. It would cost me $0.

Your healthcare has quadruple costs: federal tax, state tax, health insurance, hospital bills.

My healthcare has one cost: taxes. And I'm unemployed so I don't even pay income tax.

In Canada, medical errors and hospital-acquired infections claim between 30,000 and 60,000 lives annually.

>23,746 patients died in Canada while waiting for surgeries or diagnostic procedures between April 2024 and March 2025.
"""""free""""""

>The organization says the findings are based on freedom of information (FOI) requests summitted to more than 40 provincial and territorial health bodies.

The report warned that several jurisdictions provided only partial data, while Alberta and some parts of Manitoba provided none, meaning the true total is likely higher.

>“It’s interesting that governments will regularly inspect restaurants and report publicly if there’s a minor problem such as a missing paper towel holder,” SecondStreet.org president Colin Craig said in a news release. “Meanwhile, no government reports publicly on patients dying on waiting lists."

>In September 2022, Canadian Blood Services implemented sexual behaviour-based screening in our donation process. This change removed questions about sexual orientation that previously prevented many sexually active gay, bisexual, queer, and other men who have sex with men, and some trans people, from donating blood.
This more inclusive approach to donor screening was the result of continued consultations with patient groups, advocacy from 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations, and Canadian and international research that demonstrated the change was safe and necessary.
