Corruption is just part of what makes democracy democracy
I think there were some that went into it with good intentions but once you see the absolute state of politics from behind the door, I think you either quit or join the corruption because those are the only options.

Because at the time it seemed like common sense..that is not and has never been the intended job of the president. the executive branch primarily exists to enforce law and order. the legislative branch proposes laws, the judiciary interprets laws and the executive enforces laws, or at least that was the initial idea before the legislature ceded a ton of power to the executive branch.
