Where does /pol/ stand on this issue?
https://www.brusselstimes.com/eu-affairs/2378811/eu-to-introduce-handling-fee-on-small-parcels-coming-into-the-bloc
>>
I dont order such slop. Any reputable chink brand has warehouses in europe they ship from.
>>
more spite for the citizen
the only reason this exists is to make life shittier for the average dude
it's not protecting anybody, nobody in the EU produces the sort of things that you'd order from Ali

>>545017643
they only stock commonly ordered items
anything a little less common and you're paying the EU punitive tariff
>>
Supposedly the extra fees will protect Europeans from dangerous products.
Sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me.
>>
>>545017879
It's exactly the same as in the US you muppet.
De minimis exemption ends plus a flat duty during the transition period.

Good.

The amount of junk people order online is absolutely staggering.
And it is junk. It's rotating out their existing junk with new junk-to-be while they doom-scroll on web shops looking for the next piece of junk they can buy.

Without going into a whole philosophical debate on the scale from 'need to want', it's clear where all this online shopping lands.
The inherent average value of the stuff the mid wits buy for themselves is miniscule at best.

Regulation is needed to make society tend towards producing stuff ment to last and more so ever in terms of "surviving" pointless trends that come and go. Even climate change deniers would find it hard to deny the thrash problem.

t. I worked in a post office.
>>
>>545018327
how surprising
>>
And there has been 0 successful shill attempts ever since then cause this shit is worse than trump tarrifs.

I remember how the shills would harvest energy from /int/ with EVROPA threads. Now they gave up entirely cause their threads became sad ghost towns. Guess that was one regulation too many.
>>
>>545018274
Expect it's a 3 euro fee which for most products is more expensive than the 15% duty. (which only happens if you buy an item over 150€)

While consumers buy a shitton of chinkslop i think western companies that import chinkslop to sell for european prices should be taken into consideration as well.
>>
>>545018678
attacking middlemen is very antisemitic.
>>
>>545017449
>in an attempt to curb the surge in direct-to-consumer e-commerce shipments
"You're ordering products that don't comply with our safety standards, so we need to charge you 2 euros per item because of that then you can crack on"

>'Safe borders require adequate resources'
What borders? Illegal immigrants enter, travel through any countries they want, and settle in any country they want.
>>
>>545017449
Temu will follow AliExpress & just build a warehouse in Europe to ship from.
Shipping between different warehouses within the same company isn't taxed.
>>
>>545017449
The white tax base must be shrinking and theyre getting desperate trying to keep giving free everything to their infinity refugees
>>
>>545017449
>outsource all manufacturing worth a damn outside the union
>tax incoming products into space
The EU really is just a technocratic jew institution now that produces little of value and taxes everyone that does.
>>
>>545017758
This is the issue. Import tariffs without actually dismantling the regulations that are strangling domestic industry. So in the end the average europoor is just a bit poorer than before.
>>
>>545018274
Except that the US is actively reindustrializing and going 100% on automation. Europe is instead embracing degrowth and poverty.
>>
>>545017758
>spite

Exactly. The moment I noticed "local retailers" were just drop shipping shit from Temu and the like I got so fucking annoyed. But thank you China for letting me buy direct and fuck "LoCaL bUiSnEsS" if it's not even a locally manufactured product, get fucked.

Good. Fuck the Chinks. Fuck deindustrialization. Fuck circumventing environment protection laws. Open your factory in Poland.
>>
>>545017449

The Eu produces shit, the swedes do
>>
>>545018983
Theyll circumvent the laws and treat the penalties as cost of doing business.
>>
>>545018670
it is not just 3 euro
it is 3 + 2 + some extra + VAT
>>

>>545017449
That will turn the EU economy around for certain.
>>
>>545019115
also it is 3 per category
so it is multiple of 3 + 2 + extra + total VAT
>>
>>545019115
It's 3 euro per category you order.
Let's say you buy a watch, some socks, a phone case and some pencils, that's 12 euros tarrif.
>>
>>545019227
there is addition 2 euro fee
and there is tax on the fee also
>>
>>545018430
I order a shitton of small bicycle parts from China. The kind of stuff no store stocks, because it's obsolete and not profitable. Shit like this makes repairing them not worthwhile any more. In my case it will absolutely lead to more stuff being thrown out.
>>
>>545017449
My stance is that every single item from 3rd world countries like china should be tariffed by 500%
>>
>>545018920
I can't believe I'm agreeing with a pajeet memeflag for once.
>>
>>545017449
We already have that here , 3 euro per item unless its like a multipack of identical t shirts or something. I just drive 8 minutes into northern ireland and pick them up there for free
>>
Yeah no, idk why I should pay ten times as much for the exact same thing made in the exact same manufactury just because some billionaire middle man thinks so and is now mad he's losing profit. I'd rather pay double to the producer directly so they get paid better for doing the actual labor.
>>
>>545017449
Banning Shein is legit good, Temu is diabolical. However, the motive behind this from EU is more specific of anti-china thing. part of trade war that Brussels hypocritically condemned on US vs. China & Europe while doing the same with EU vs. China
I got EU federalist fags that obsessed with "made in EU" stuffs. They gaslight anyone to buy European cars, hate chinese cars. however, they are permissive with buying Japanese or South Korean cars. Their reason is Japan & South Korea are kinda democratic & aligned with EU. fuck these pretentious faggots
>>
>>545017449
I don't care about ordering shit from shein but we have too many bullshit taxes in the eu as is.
the worst part is that this money will go straight to either ukraine, eurocrat wages or redistributed to some NGO's.
Adding more bureaucracy and taxes is the only thing the EU is good at and it's the opposite of what we want.
>>
>Trump tariffs good
>Europe tariffs bad
Can one of you miggers explain this?
>>
>>545018430
"Euro" stores sell same chink junk, only more expensive because of their cut and less models offering. Tariffs aren't gonna change that.
>>
>>545018670
The flat fee is only an temporary solution to avoid overloading customs offices with a gazillion small packages.
>>
>>545018961
>the US is actively reindustrializing and going 100% on automation
Hahah good one.
>>
Now I have to buy from the middle man and pay twice more.
Thanks EU.
>>
>>545017449
I would be fine with it if was actually being reinvested in things that aren't a money pit. White label chinesium is a bigger problem though
>>
>>545017449
A late gommunist government in Poland used to say: "we don't care about the economy too much, the government will always be able to feed itself".
And then it wasn't; it withered away. kek
>>
>>545020078
It may be a good opportunity for the member states to say fuck you to those deranged pedophiles.
>>
>>545019775
I mostly agree with all of that.

But that kind of leans into my whole sentiment.
Even if cheap chink junk continued to be sold here and increased prices due to sanctions, it would (hopefully) begin a societal change away from wasteful junk purchases.

Imagine if stuff was pricier, what would people do before resorting to replacing in with something new?
They would wear those clothes a bit longer, care more for their stuff to avoid wear and tear, spend more effort trying to repair instead of replacing.
>>
>>545020252
That's de-growthing. You aren't a commie are you?
>>
>>545017449
its already not worth it to order from aliexpress, etc. in 90% of all useful stuff
>>
fuck this shit
>>
>>545019172
holy fuck, it's cheaper for me to import things, what the fuck are you doing?
>>
>>545020301
That retard is too edgy for his own good. He's trying to play the hipster angle of taxes, duties, tariffs, fees.

The fact he thinks this is a good thing, instantly exposes himself as a sped. The wider implications of this, have completely gone over his head
>>
>>545017449
>10 repair parts now cost 10€+50€
The EU is pro-racketeering, pro-ewaste and anti-sustainability. The effective tax rate in germany (what your work costs for the employer vs how much of that you can use for consumerism) is already exceeding 90%.
>>
>>545018670
The categories are vague and aliexpress puts anything thats not the exact product into new categories.
>10 screws M4x32mm
>10 screws M4x48mm
>10 4700uF capacitors
>10 800uF capacitors
>10 usb-c solder bridges
5€ + 25€ eurotaxes
>>
>>545017449
A trade war with China is what accelerated the collapse of the USA in the first place kek. It's almost like if the same kind of imbeciles without the slightest fucking clue about economic development were ruling here and there.
>>
>>545021153
This is what living in a bubble, completely shielded from economic realities due to mass robbery of the productive members of the society does to motherfuckers.
>>
>>545018670
Chinks on ebay for example already worked around this. I got several small packages via Spain for some reason. So they must have loopholes to send stuff in bulk and then reroute it. Fuck the EU.
>>
Buy European or fuck off! No one should buy any chinkslop
>>
>>545020252
Imagine living in China and able to buy all goods you want with x100 times more choice, without stupid euro taxes. Should've vote for communism instead of the capitalism in Europe.
>>
>>545020893
You voted for this btw
>>
>>545018981
local retailers are just dropshippers as you say
they don't create any value, so making those people get a real job would actually be good for the economy
>>
>>545017449
Taxes for lord Trump
>>
>>545017449
The EU is a dictatorship
That is the goal post WW2. To control Europe and to punish those who won't obey.
We've seen this multiple times where if you vote 'wrongly' they'll just redoe the voting processes and if it doesn't work, they'll punish you by allowing more invaders into your country. Ireland is a dead country to not being 100% obedient to the wishes of the dictators in charge.
Look at France? History is being destroyed because of the 'far right' or also known as 'people who don't want to obey dictators'
>>
>>545017449
It's fine if you're protecting your own industry, otherwise it's just robbery and parasitism.
