Section 535 of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act takes effect on December 18, 2026 - 51 days from now. The provision, enacted in 2025, is the first in U.S. history to automate the military conscription system.

The government has not yet released the rules that would govern how that system works. Those rules are supposed to specify which federal and state databases the automated draft can access, and who qualifies for deferments or exemptions.

The Selective Service System withdrew its proposed rules in July and has not resubmitted them.

With under two months remaining, there are still no published guidelines. That leaves open the possibility that citizens could be selected without a clear explanation of how or why, and without a defined process for seeking a deferment or exemptions.

Even if the Selective Service submitted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking today, the timeline would not fit. Proposed rules must undergo at least 30 days of review at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, then a public comment period of 60 days. There is not enough time left before December 18 to complete both steps.

52 Days until nothing happens and you don't do shit

Its happening, it is already set in stone. There is not enough time for the Selective Service to submit an NPRM to the OIRA.

oh no too bad im fat and racist someone else will be your welfare recipient

Why would anyone automate a system that is meant to be used only in the direst of circumstances? Do they seriously expect to force millions of peoples into the military, kicking and screaming, and expect this shit not to blow up in their face? Especially in modern times, when both government and military approval are lowest?

There is no way this shit doesnt blow up into their face if they try anything, I cant even imagine the clusterfuck its going to cause. Guess conscription officer patches are going to become a collectible.

Listen, when you're about to get cut by a sword, the important parts are that the sword carrier have a proper stance, and the cut-ee be well versed in the blade sharpness...
Nigger.

Remember kids
You can’t be drafted if you have a swastika tattoo

They can declare draft all they want, nobody is going to fight for jews.

It would be hilarious if the only tattoo I get is a swastika and then I have to spend the rest of my life pretending it's because I'm a conscientious objector and refused to kill anyone.
