They're also not rolling out dynamic pricing, at least not at Walmart.
These digital shelf tags make a lot more sense to anyone who's had the misfortune of working at one of these places. Meijer was particularly cute because it treated its pricing team as the redheaded stepchild with this. You had to show up at 4 am and work until Noon 4 days out of the week, and then they'd make you split 2 hours and 6 hours on Saturday because the weekly sale stickers had to be changed over, which was an entire-store endeavor. They'd shove the entire job onto like 4 people who aren't overnight for the majority of their week, because pricing tended to be where you were relegated to if it was discovered that you could read.

so they want us to stop shopping online and come into the store, like they want us to stop working from home and come into the office. And then they release a system that has you walking into their store and you see if you come back in a few hours you can get it a few dollars cheaper. So you will just decide it's easier to wait and buy it online. So they just pushed you out of their stores again. Fucking idiots.
>>
>>545057817
The price decrease they're talking about is operational costs. Price changes currently take a lot of manhours.
Whether or not those savings get passed onto the consumer in any meaningful way is up for debate. The switch itself costs money and training, after all, and it's not like Walmart is worried about someone trying to undercut them.
>>
>>545052403
They generally have an SoC with Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi or some custom radio protocol over 2.4Ghz.
They have flash memory and some have IR sensors and other peripherals. And of course a battery and e-ink display.
People pay good money to assemble things like this with a pizero or other SBC.

Dynamic pricing had been a thing online for 2-3 years now. I know its a thing on amazon. My wife and I shop for the same thing simultaneously, shes on an iphone, im on a €69 motorola. I do that too, but for another reason.
The stores here have a policy that if an item scans higher than the displayed shelf price, you get the item for free. (Or a discount for multiple items)
They do not like people taking photos of their price tags. Security often follows me around the store.

Cart dumping is a fun way to show grocery stores just how much you appreciate them. 95% of the money in circulation is loaned into existence by commercial banks, aka capitalism.
https://youtu.be/c8sN_hPHjgY
if you don't expand the money supply you get a recession, or worse a depression. money supply should ideally reflect the total economy. too much money floating around and you get inflation, too little money recession. a bit oversimplified but its what's up.
this is specifically because money loses its velocity, aka it isnt being spent, its being hoarded and stockpiled by the private sector. this means the government must create new money, or there is none left for everyday people to use for transactions.
think of the government issuing currency like a capacitor in a circuit. it smooths out the power, so it compensates for both spikes and drops, and potentially insulating the economy from outside shocks.
a government that creates its own currency can never go bankrupt.

In an ideal world, the money supply would be fixed. That way, as wheat production increases, wheat prices fall.

Let us imagine an island. Let us say it has a million sea shells that the islanders use as currency. Let us say that the islanders double their harvest of fish. Should we then double the amount of sea shells? No. We keep the same amount of money, and as the supply of fish increases while the supply of money stays the same, the exchange rate between the two changes. This is how pricing works. This is how capitalism works.

In today's world, the pricing mechanism doesn't exist. Goods become more expensive even while the supply of them increases because the demand for money is constantly decreasing. The demand for money is constantly decreasing because banks and governments are constantly creating new money and throwing it at everything.

Money should never be confused with wealth. Money is a measure of wealth, like a yardstick. By increasing or decreasing the supply of money, we are just changing the increments on the yardstick, without affecting the size of the thing (wealth) we are trying to measure.

In Soviet Union you had basically zero competition. If you wanted pants they came in an extremely limited variety from state enterprise factories. You had almost no choices.

When you go to the store in modern America it looks like you have infinite choices. But when you look closer the brands are fake. They exist on paper and everything is owned by cartels of 3-5 companies. And those cartels are all owned by an even smaller set of financial institutions tied to the fed reserve. We are converging into the same system as the Soviets

>>545061959
> By increasing or decreasing the supply of money, we are just changing the increments on the yardstick, without affecting the size of the thing (wealth) we are trying to measure.

The rent a cops that make up asset protection are useless retards. They're only a threat to those that make it excruciatingly obvious they're stealing shit like just loading up a basket full of stuff without looking at prices. The cameras are pointless too considering legally speaking the item in question must be in view at all times in order for a charge to legally stick plus it's official law that if you steal under a couple hundred dollars then it's legal. That scary story about them just waiting for you to steal enough to hit that limit! Is bullshit too.

I used to work in asset protection

True but you're understimating just how frequently and to what extent niggers steal. Most of the time the workers are stealing a little bit every day. Basically their real salary is paid that way since otherwise they're making pennies. I'm sure you already know niggers steal more often if you're on /pol/ but trust me when I say you're still way underestimating it. It's shocking to even a racist that expects it. At every job I've had where I was working security, a clothing store, a grocery store, a warehouse there were fucking niggers every single day breaking into shit, loading up on shit and then running off. It's amazing just how brazen they are. White people steal plenty sure but they do it in a white way, something is overpriced and they elect not to pay for that one item. Compare that to my job at a clothing store where a group of niggers would rush the clothing rack stealing every single hoody so they can then go resell them for a dollar on Craigslist to other niggers. When I worked at a grocery store, a nigger got busted stealing every single brisket, something like 50 of them. Or when I worked at the pharmacy and a nigger bitch loaded up her basket on everything in the store and then rushed out the door with the basket. When I worked at a warehouse a nigger got busted breaking into coworkers lockers to steal their medication and whatever else they might find. Or another time at this same warehouse a nigger put on a yellow vest to pretend to be a worker and broke into a an actual workers work van. They took everything in the van including random ass instruction manuals

My boomer relatives could literally walk into just about any business and get a job with handshake well into the 70s and it wasn't even that uncommon in the 80s.

Today? You can spend hours filling out bogus applications meant to harvest data with no job on the other side. Plenty of ordinary office jobs are being lost to foreigners on visas because the company "couldn't find an American to do the job" as if that isn't one of the most obvious lies of all time.

In the 2010s I was going to apply to an entry level IT job near my house while I was in college. When I pulled up the details it wanted me to code 12 programming languages, have years of experience, and have ALL the responsibilities of a sysadmin, for rock bottom pay. Of course they turn around and find a foreigner who lies on their application and hey game the system. It's my sincerest dream that companies doing this have their entire C Suite perp walked to federal prison
