There's gotta be at least $10, maybe even $15 dollars worth of walmart pasta in there. That should definitely last the average American at least 18 hours.
>>
>>545090928
Honestly you people laugh at pasta hoarders, but you really dont have enough pasta yourselves. The average person uses 1 five gallon bucket per day. If you have a family of 4, that's 28 five gallons buckets a week. Over 100 a month. Pasta will be worth their weight in gold in a few months, because everyone needs it.

This is not how you prep or stockpile (I know op is a joke). Buy things you eat every day that you can store. Buy extra when you go to the store and then rotate your stockpile based on expiration. It’s easy.

Deenz rank rather low in the food chain, are small, have a short life span and therefore do not accumulate nearly as much poison as large predators, for instance, tuna. They are relatively cheap, provide high qt protein and Omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and vitamin D. You can store them almost forever. And they are very delicious. I particularly like them in hot tomato sauce with "piri-piri".

I'm going to use this thread to ask how to make meat last longer. I know that you could salt it and let it dry, but what are other ways? I remember hearing that swedes have a technique where they let meat get rotten, and yet, it is still safe to consume.
One thing I did once, was to put some sardine fillets in a container with a mixture of maybe 60 to 70% and the rest of vinegar, and let them rest in my fridge for a little more than a week. I ate them raw with some onions. It was delicious.
>>

> 3buckets for $400
"it was a long, straight road"
(they saw you a mile off)

a sack of rice would outperform that ($10-20 for a 20lb sack)
2x buckets of macarni = 1x 20lbs sack of rice.

- you coulda spent the savings to include ramen
(which you can eat dry if you run out of potable water.)

- $300 (savings) could buy extra tinned tuna (100 tins)
(enough for 30 days of protein)

Buy a sack of rice - it will double your carbs stockpile.
>>
>>545097301
>I'm going to use this thread to ask how to make meat last longer. I know that you could salt it and let it dry, but what are other ways?
at one point preserved meat meat was so long lasting we are talking after 2 years a leg of pork still being perfectly good, tasty and preserved that was when we salt cured meats and "cold smoked" them
cold smoking is building a dry shack
set up smoking hooks or lines
digging out the ground in a small fire tunnel(usually used to provide ground level heat in more primitive dwellings) with the fire feeder outside, insuring the smoking process is "cold" and this apparently is the most long lasting way to make meat last.
t. survival autist
Im like anthony hopkins from "The Edge" I have alot more knowledge than actual experience.
but I do my research and keep my trusty manuals.
I learned about the cold smoking salting method online
you first put the meat through several cycles of salting.
then you cold smoke them for a while.
then bacteria cant touch it anymore, just bears and badgers.

find someone to guide you through it (hands on).

- canning jars - ditto
- "living off the land", cook throughly or Parasites.

easyway: $2.50-$3.00 for 4pack tinned tuna

3 tins is RDA for a 220lb guy)

Wheat berries and a flour mill will easily store 20-30 years and could be turned into bread, pasta, etc very easily.
>A wheat berry has three main parts: the nutrient-rich germ, the fiber-rich bran, and the starchy endosperm. The germ contains natural oils that spoil and turn rancid quickly when exposed to oxygen. Milling breaks open the kernel, exposing these oils to air and causing flour to degrade within months.

>spam
>2 axes
>10 pack of lighters
these will go the furthest in trade
spam long term will get you boxes of ammo
a spare axe allows double the woodwork inna woods
and the lighters are fuel, fire fuel, this was a top sought after item during the winter in civil war bosnian interview from a survivor inside a large city.
a clever person with a full lighter can make it last two weeks of nightfires to keep warm.
one guy the man in the interview knew was making his own kerosene because he had the equipment and know how, so he was living well during the short apocolypse
interviewee aslo had cousins in the countryside, when it was all over he found they apparently managed alot better than in the city.
fuel was the most precious commodity in the city, fuel to cook with, keep warm and see in the darkness.
without electric fuel or the knowledge to make fire and resources to do so is the most valued gift of Prometheus.
so order you a bulk of 1000 lighters from china.
and keep in safely stored and hidden before it all goes down.
you will be swimming in deenz and pussy(women were giving blowjobs for a can of spam in bosnia)
there are two lords in the land of scarcity, the Lords of Calories, and the Lords of Fuel.
the warlords need both lords to supply them so anons ca fuck off with the raider memes.
once it is known you will kill the preppers for their bounty instead of deal with tthem they will destroy their own stores the moment you outnumber and besiege them.
a true, and worthy warpack would recognize the value of keeping a superb fisherman alive.
here is the interview and my bad on thinking it was bosnia, my brain os pickled by alcohol

if you have the space for one buy a second deep freezer as a backup. they are pretty cheap you can get them for like $120 if you shop around, definitely under $200 anywhere not on sale. but the best advice i can give you is to put water bottles or synthetic ice blocks like for coolers in all the free space there. that way it keeps the freezer cold and buys you more time to figure out your solution

It's important to have a means of assessing the situation in case of power outage and local communication outage. You need to know if the problem is your county, your state, your country, your continent, or worldwide. Having that information early will probably decide how you should proceed.
>>
>>545101004
read the article I linked, if you are in a city when it locks down, leaving will be difficult, almost impossible to do safely if you are looking after a family.
wait till you read about the daytime "snipers"
I would highly recommend you learn to build/obtain a bow ad arrows.
because snipers ruled the main roads during the day, I met once at a speakeasy style bar here in the US from an ex marine that he and his buddies plan to camp a street overseeing a walmart with his ex unit buddies that were local.
no matter how I argued he would not see my reasoning.
non negotiable shoot on sight and loot later.
so, beware ex mils teaming up as snipers, because they apparently ruled by day and were ambiguous after dark and dont count on reasoning with assholes who have long range weapons but shit primitive survival skills or practice.
that will be the main threat, retards that shoot before finding out if I can be useful or teach them something they could use.
Im a great chef as well as fisher/hunter/amatuer trapper.
if I am caught by a warlord, this is what I offer to keep my life.
he and his soldiers will eat good from then on out if they spare me and keep me as a slave(hopefully with a chance to rise the ranks) I also know how to host a blackjack table and other fun games, a few sailor songs and I can brew my own beer and wine and know how to use "wild yeast" (the one thing that will spare me more likely than anything else, with me, your tribe can get shitfaced unless you are muslim)

this is also good advice, obtain and keep radio communications at your disposal, or get to know someone who is a hobbyist you trust.
