There's gotta be at least $10, maybe even $15 dollars worth of walmart pasta in there. That should definitely last the average American at least 18 hours.
>>545090928Honestly you people laugh at pasta hoarders, but you really dont have enough pasta yourselves. The average person uses 1 five gallon bucket per day. This is not how you prep or stockpile (I know op is a joke). Buy things you eat every day that you can store. Buy extra when you go to the store and then rotate your stockpile based on expiration. It’s easy.

I'm going to use this thread to ask how to make meat last longer. I know that you could salt it and let it dry, but what are other ways? I remember hearing that swedes have a technique where they let meat get rotten, and yet, it is still safe to consume. One thing I did once, was to put some sardine fillets in a container with a mixture of maybe 60 to 70% and the rest of vinegar, and let them rest in my fridge for a little more than a week. I ate them raw with some onions. It was delicious.

Also, you've moved the goalposts, since earlier you were talking about wheat berry and now you're talking about flour. 1) Inspect the wheat and remove foreign objects and spoiled berries. (3 minutes)2) Mill berries in to flour. (5 minutes)3) Create dough by mixing flour and water (possibly also egg). (5 minutes)4) Knead dough until gluten has sufficiently developed. (5 minutes)5) Rest dough. (20-30 minutes)6) Roll and cut pasta. (10-15 minutes)7) Cook pasta. (10 minutes)If you have store bought pasta you only need to follow step 7. Also, freshly made pasta does not keep, so steps 3-6 need to be repeated each time you want to make it.

>>545105717Unless you grew the wheat berries yourself they will already be free of debris. It also takes just a few seconds to crank a hand mill to produce flour for a variety of purposes. You are just whining about being called out for reccomending emergency preparedness foods that have a shitty shelf life. Regardless If you want disaster prep food that is fast and easy there are a variety of options that won't spoil in a few months. Freeze dried meals and ingredients are ideal balance of convenience and shelf life. A dehydrator is not nearly as good as freeze drying unfortunatley so there is no way around the high price for this particular purpose, store bought is the way to go. A 5 gallon bucket of rice is comparatively very cheap and while it takes 20 minutes to boil rice it does meet the requirements for shelf life and relative ease. Avoid MRE's, while tempting they are way too expensive and cause constipation while also being mostly unpalletable.

Honestly you people laugh at toilet paper hoarders, but you really dont have enough toilet paper yourselves. The average person uses 1 roll per day. If you have a family of 4, that's 28 rolls a week. Over 100 a month. TP rolls will be worth their weight in gold in a few months, because everyone needs it.
>>545106230too many trees blocking direct sunlight for a good bit of the day sadly, for a few hours around midday its fine but after that the sun quickly goes behind some more trees then a hill

>>545097301Pressure canning and then storing in a dark cellar is probably the best way. It's either that or pickling or smoking and salting. Fermentation also works but it's intense
