I was a NEET for about two years a while back, and I’m now living with a cousin who has been one for around 7 years. He’s the only guy in our family, and the women in the family (me included) support him financially.

When I joined this sub, I expected to find at least a few people who don’t see this lifestyle as entirely bad. From my own experience, and from what my cousin tells me, there are real downsides, but also real upsides. The most obvious one is avoiding the psychological suffering that often comes with working life. There’s also the simple physical pleasure of not having to work.

I’m not trying to downplay the downsides. Feeling unproductive and like you’re falling behind in life is a heavy thing, and the unpleasant feelings are real. But like most things, it has pros and cons.

What I’ve noticed here is that almost everyone talks about suffering. So I’m curious: is there anyone who genuinely enjoys being a NEET, the way I did and the way my cousin says he does, even while knowing it’s not ideal and that some parts of it feel bad?

I’d really like to hear honest perspectives, including from people who feel mixed about it.

you work you suffer you do nothing you suffer, suffering is base state of existence regardless what ocupation you have, however it is possible to find something you love despite suffering thats what makes suffering worth it. these things and moments however have become scarce both for the worker and also the NEET who has to use hyperreality fake alternatives (porn over sex) to placate its maslovian needs. meanwhile the worker suffers from the act and stress of work and getting squeezed financially. The more the general suffering increases the more NEETs you will see because why work if those things and moments arent even close to guaranteed. they never were ofcourse but before getting human needs fulfilled and in turn adherence to the social contract was common plentiful. now its scarce this will eventually destroy everything as you remove the externalized motivater and make the intrinsic motivators null as their is no room or money for its expression

You will get married to a whore, she will cheat on you, she will take everything you own, and you will be a wageslave who is completely alone until you die an early death in your 60s before ever retiring

Suffering is thought moving with PAIN.
Pain IS
suffering is THINKING along the pain.

I don't intend on living past 40-50 so why would I highly motivated to live the remaining 10-20 years of my life doing some stupid career

If you actually value being alive, a social life, wanting to live a long stable life, yeah, being a neet is a bad idea. I simply no longer care.
I'm 33 and I realised at 17 I was never going to be a normal person.

I've had full time jobs on and off and being full time employed is the closest I've been to genuinely suicidal.

I was a NEET loser that watched anime and ate goyslop all day. I now have $40k in savings, a job, and I’m getting into shape through Muay Thai class.

You make an excellent point OP! That's why I gave up NEETdom and joined the US Army. They offered competitive signing bonuses and take people up to age 42. It wasn't too late for me to turn my life around and there is plenty of chance for other NEETs to too.

Jobs are not viable for the 4chan population.
NEETdom is synonymous to depression, so it is also to be avoided.
Entrepreneurship is problematic because opportunities are barely existent, and you need to interact with people too much.

As it stands, for 4channers,

Crime > Entrepreneurship > NEET > job

Jobs are such a bad option as to be entirely unviable, NEET is barely viable.
