Specifically in Matthew Isiah, Jeremiah, and Luke he walked into the Temples, kicked over the tables and called the Jews (moneychangers) a den of robbers. They were exchanging peoples real money for "tokens" to use on the altars and selling doves for sacrifices. I dont think Jesus would have called them a den of robbers and also have in his mind that they are gods chosen people. Pretty sure the gods chosen people line was added by the Jews to make them look good.
