Found next to an ATM in broad daylight? There are cameras everywhere these days, nevermind in front of an ATM. What would I do with the money? It might instantly show up as stolen the moment I tried to lodge it spend it in any great amounts. You could face criminal prosecution or as noted gangland punishment - the latter not being known for their belief in rehabilitation.

These days if you suddenly have a large cash deposit banks will call pigs to investigate you. I sold my old vidya and pokemon cards a few years ago and made 10k. Had a few rare cards. Anyways I tried to deposit it and raised all kinds of alarm bells and ended up having to pay capital gains taxes. I was stupid and was honest when I told bank where money came from. I highly recommend anyone who comes onto a large amount of cash to instead just change to paying for groceries and other things with cash until it is spent.

You are not a good person. The imperative to return it should be categorical. Not because you fear the consequences of not doing so. I would return it even if there was no potential for consequences because it isn't mine. You return it out of cowardice from consequences indicating a perverse will that does not follow the moral law.

>there’s a 99% chance the owner will find a way to track you down and fuck you over.
Let's think about this for a bit. Say that the original owner of the money was a cop, a high level cop. He would have access to cell phone towers for tracking down text messages and cell phones, but without an identity of who took the cash he wouldnt know what cell phone to ping for. It could be the case that your face gets recorded, or he can get access to some CCTV footage of you and your outfit, but clothes can be sold and new ones bought, hairstyles changed, even your body slimmed down or fattened up in addition to your face shaved or your hair dyed. Facial recognition isn't going to be 100%. That's a cop. Now imagine it's bags of money forgotten there by some dumb nigger gang banger. Let him seethe and chimp out at losing his bags and then you can go back to enjoying a moderately easier life.

>>545121549
Nah, finders keepers nigger. If someone leaves something sitting unattended in a public space, they've abandoned it and no one should feel bad for picking it up and keeping it. If it's something massive like 100k then how the fuck did they forget it there? It's reasonable to assume it's a social experiment in that case, or somehow related to criminal acts. That's the only thing that should determine whether you call the police, not "it's the right thing to do!"

The guy probably thought it was bait to justify arresting him, or belonged to a criminal he didn't want to risk pissing off. Your own logic should determine what you do in potentially dangerous situations, not a blind sense of loyalty to societal expectations. That's woman thinking.

The real story is even funnier. Some wagies working for an armored car company dropped a bag off and forgot about it. Legally, the cash was considered abandoned property and was likely insured meaning the barber could have looted all of it without getting caught.

If he had just used the ATM, he may have gotten a knock on the door, but boosting that cash isn't theft.

Grab the bags.
Make a stop to get replacement containers.
Drive somewhere remote.

Profit.

If I'm enough of an honorary Jew to pick up a quarter off the sidewalk, I'm goddamn sure to pick up some bags worth ~2 times the average American salary. Niggers and the IRS can tongue my anus.
>>

i found 80$ dropped by someone at my apartment on the stairs once and i pocketed it. I felt guilty afterwards in case it was the cleaning ladies, but i have no reason to think it was hers, the other people that live here can die in a fire (hopefully at another location).

If i found 100k i would assume its a sting operation of some kind. Cops here do stuff like that like leave keys in a car with a wallet on the seat then grab people who go for it. car hopping was pretty popular here for a time.

My brother was an ATM refiller back in the day - like 2002 or so. He"d drive around with a quarter of a million dollars in cash in the trunk of his Mitsubishi Eclipse. >>
>>545120860
I'd definitely take whatever steps are needed to return it to the rightful owner, while preventing it from getting seized as 'evidence' or the police 'just holding on to it' while they find the owner. That shit stays in my possession until the owner is established beyond a reasonable doubt.

I actually looked into this once out of curiosity. The hypothetical about finding large amounts of cash and whether or not you can keep it. There are all kinds of laws on this sort of thing. If you keep it, and the reported it missing, you're 100% guilty of a crime for not returning it. It's something like "theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake"

It's not worth opening yourself up to the risk. There aren't many places where you're not on camera anymore.

There are many cases of people going to jail for this sort of thing. The only one I found where the persons were in the clear was that couple that found like 10 million in buried gold bars on their property and it was okay because the age of the gold bars made it obvious that the owner was likely diseased.
>>
>>545121423

>>
>>545128427
>>545128478
On the other hand, if it was a sting it was entrapment, if it was in front of the ATM they know you weren't the one who dropped it, and if you run into a cop you can just say you were returning it and afraid to leave it in someone else's custody. If you were caught it would be entrapment.

No matter what you do your in the clear.
>>
>>545128546
Unless you live in a Cartel Town near the border.

Then maybe its a test and they chop your dick off or something.
>>
>>545128532
I just remembered one of the cases. One was where someone bought a home and found a cache of money in their wall. The previous owner, then diseased, had put it there. The daughters of that previous diseased owner sued the new homeowner and actually won the case. Bit different than finding a random sack of money on the street but it really demonstrates how twisted and complex the laws regarding these things are.

In this case, absolutely. You are on 10 cameras finding it.

It would be hard not to save a little for myself though.

Maybe the correct play is to grab a couple stacks, but leave the bag? You can always claim you thought it was fake and funny.

How's it a crime when no one has reported it missing?

>Take 10k out of the bag
>No, they must have messed up on their accounting, I didn't touch the money
What do they do in this case? Accounting errors happen and the wagie dropped the bag there.

100k is not as much money as you seem to think it is.
Certainly not worth giving up your mental wellbeing for.

You are just more desperate for money, for whatever reason. That's a you problem, not a me problem.

>near an ATM
you are a retard if you take it, they will catch you, the ATM camera already saw you
the only way you could get away with it was if you were a pack of niggers who just ran in as a crowd and all grabbed your share and the money disappeared making it pointless for anyone to come look for it
No one will track down little incel Tyrone for their 50 bucks

Call me weird, but I get no joy in receiving money that I didn't earn. I already make enough so most of money just sits in a savings account and a couple of investment accounts. If I came across that money, I'd turn the circumstance into a game. I'd park somewhere nearby and watch who takes it, then document the entire experience of whoever else came across it. I'd hope it wasn't somebody who'd turn it in and instead hope that I could make a documentary, in secret, about the person who took the money. Imagine the adventure this possible crackhead would begin if they found over 100k in cash. Then I'd release it on youtube.

$120k pays off a good chunk of student loans and/or your mortgage. of course, not "living pretty" money, but you are infinitely more comfortable. the annoying thing is that you would have to spend cash only at like every restaurant, bar, etc. or figure out a way to launder it. $120k isn't enough to setup your own money laundering system and unless you know someone with like a dry cleaners, bar, or laundromat, it'll be tough to actually get that money in a bank account
>>
>>545129361
Yeah realistically you're gonna have to have one of your friends smash your car window and break your nose to really get away with it, but then you'd need to have some way to contact them and give them a QRD of the situation
>I went to hand it in
>But my car window got smashed and they broke my nose and ran off with it
Really the only thing I could see even remotely working. Better yet, have a friend on standby in case this happens to you and if either of you find yourself in a situation where you need a broken nose and to be severely beaten to get away with something just press the little wireless communication button, they show up and beat you up and smash your windows no questions asked.

Nah they're some jeet site that uses AI pictures and ESL or AI writing, and they pop up first because google search results are now botted.

>>545120860
dont you get automatic finders fee when you return cash to police?
>>
>>545129474
dude, don't you get it? the camera is your alibi! it proves you didn't take it, and when you pick it up you can just say you were returning it! Even if you get caught walking in the opposite direction you can say as nobody had taken custody of the bag, you assumed the bank was either closed or that something strange had happened and the bank had not retained custody of the money, and that you felt it was best you keep it for safekeeping and return it to the authorities until it was sorted out.

Frankly it would be irresponsible to leave it out somewhere where someone else might take it and not return it.

Rule #1: Don't tell ANYBODY. Whether it's something you did, something you're doing or something you plan to do in the future never tell anybody. That's the first and only rule.

>>545129292
Problem is that in most of these cases, police will determine that it's evidence for a crime they just haven't discovered yet and seize it once you report it. So you'd have to get it somewhere beyond their reach before you file, and if they cannot come up with evidence, it legally becomes yours.

Me too, when I lost my job and got gibs it just felt weird and kind of blackpilling but kinda ammusing at the same time. Then again I had my parents to fall back on to provide anything I actually needed (no cash but a house to live in, food, electricity etc). I appreaciated it more once I moved out but it still lacked the same meaning since I could just NEET making consooming and hedonism the baseline with no real hardship to contrast it against. Most people will not be able to cope in an AI 'utopia' with infinite abundance and no job.
Also someone did an experiment where they gave a homeless drug addict a bunch of money and he ended up back on the streets soon enough
>>
>>545129652
cont.

you know its funny, i'd never really thought about my alibi in this situation before. I always thought about what I'd do after I got the money, how I'd launder it, how i'd spend it, what I could get away with, but never what I'd say if I got caught. I used to think of ways to rob people but I guess it never really occurred to me that something like this could happen in real life.
>>
>>545120956
You could just exchange it to crypto at some dodgy arab exchange and than even if you get caught they cant really take it from you because you just memorize the wallets phrase without actually keeping it on any device.
>>
Duh, first of all because it's probably illegal to just take the money, second of all because it's your civic and moral duty to help your fellow countrymen. If you wouldn't return it then you're a nigger thief.
>>
>>545129785

everything is under cameras and keeping it is a crime... i would keep it but the risk that some camera somewhere sees me walking with the bag is too high and police would find me in the investigation.... so the best thing would be just keep the bag there and walk away... because if you bring it to the police the owner can say later there is some money missing and you have huge trouble...

just walk away

Typical.
These days there are cameras everywhere so spending some chump change to get recording of your ugly syphilitic mug would be trivial.
Then ask a pig on drug dealer's payroll to run your photo through their database and you're one dead faggot, which is a win for everyone involved.

Bros I think I might have found a workaround
>Go to nearest bridge
>Accidentally fall off
>DOOD THE MONEY FLOATED AWAY IN DA RIBBER!
>Make sure this is all videotaped btw
shrimple as. It's not illegal to trip and fall and the money ends up somewhere else, oops I tripped in front of that camera and the bag went over the side of that cliff. I hope nobody took it.
