Neet here. Office wagecels btfo by Gates, they will be seething. Most if not all white collar jobs will be gone in 5 years according to Gates.

Feel sorry for desk jockies who will be queing in the bread lines within the decade.

I'm a marine engineer.
Absolutely no way a robot is doing this job in my lifetime.

wrong
it will decimate white color work.
White collar jobs will remain. They will simply be different. The end result will be we will get more stuff done, accomplish more things, produce more, and be wealthier as a result.
No nation got rich employing 1000 men to dig a trench with spoons.

I love how everyone gets fixated on jobs.
My dudes, every stupid service you company provides to another company can also be done by AI. It's not the jobs that are going to be decimated, but entire industries.

Of course it will, but these wagecels are like ostriches with their heads in the sand. Oh no, it won't happen to me or my company.

Big part of my job is remedial repairs which involve a huge amount of judgement, experience and various variables to be considered.
Then there is physical dexterity required. Working in confined spaces, awkward positions, sometimes working blind and just feeling with your hands. All this taking place on a moving ship, potentially in heavy seas, listing from side to side.

A robot/AI isn't doing this in my lifetime.
