The wild card factor here is how Iran may retaliate beyond its immediate vicinity. Iran can not strike the US conventionally, but it's possible they use cyber warfare to attack the US power grid, or water utilities, something like that. A major power disruption would be catastrophic, since (as shown during Katrina) society is really just 9 meals away from anarchy. Turning off the power in Los Angeles for a week, for example, would be ruinous to the region. Even nations not involved face serious economic fallout from more food and fuel shortages. Since, again, Trump is basically guaranteeing he's attacking Iran soon, everyone wants to at least promote some semblance of preparedness to the general population of those nations. So they're giving people decent general advice regarding disaster readiness while hoping this renewed war doesn't actually happen.
