These people are fucking garbage. I say that as someone who's spent years getting paid to sit there listening to them, and I'm getting pretty worn out with this job. I ran my NDA through ChatGPT and had it go over what I signed and explain what I can actually say (Enterprise, before anybody starts). Figured that meant no eyes on the data. Kek. I'm pretty sure I know where the line is. As far as the job itself, I got it through USAJOBS, for data entry. Fully remote. There's some flexibility with the schedule but once your coverage window starts they expect your FULL attention until it's over. Even when there's no active assignment. You can't just get up and wander off because nothing is happening, because being there when something does happen is what they're paying you for. They supplied the laptop and this little key that goes in the USB port, which you have to touch when it asks. When I connect there's a Cisco thing that comes up and then I'm on their work page and whatever sites they want me using. You can't even do a Google search on the thing. Most normal browsing is blocked, but the assigned sites work. It's like being on somebody else's version of the internet. I don't know how else to describe it. At first I thought I'd found a pretty easy way to get paid, because for the first year and a half most of what I did was watch livestreams and sit in the chats. There were instructions for how to conduct myself and participation goals, things I was supposed to be doing while I was there. Showing up regularly was part of it.
Having people get used to seeing the name. Then I got into their Discord servers too (some of the channels have them, some don't), and over there it was the same thing, hang around and listen and talk to people until you're part of the community. That was an ACTUAL objective. Becoming part of the community. For a while it was just that, and you do get to know these people when you're spending hours with them whether you particularly want to or not. About seven months ago is when the assignments started picking up, and the way it works is I get an alert with the text already there and where they want it posted. I put it there, mark it done, and sometimes I'm back to waiting and sometimes the next one comes in almost right away. Whatever discussion produced that post, I don't get to see. Nobody explains what that particular post is supposed to accomplish either. This is the fucking YouTube true crime community, by the way. The guy in Idaho who killed those four kids. They love him. All right, I don't mean they LOVE him, but everything comes back to him. They'll be going on about truth and justice and transparency and fucking FOIA, and they'll spend hours fighting over documents, then have another whole stream fighting about who paid for them, who got them first, who shared them, who didn't give somebody credit. I mean it's like high school girls and Karens arguing over who gets to be in charge. I know I'm being an asshole about it. I've been off my meds a couple days and the withdrawal is making everything even more annoying than it already was. My doctor won't renew until I get bloodwork done, and out here it isn't exactly easy getting somewhere to do that. Found out I could do one of those Amazon medical visits, so that's what I did. They approved ninety days and the pharmacy is delivering it. Still have to get things sorted with the regular doctor after that. Anyway, these people are down as an “influential subversive subculture.” That is the wording I've seen.
I spend all this time listening to them and mostly it's people arguing about each other. Nobody has told me what the whole thing is supposed to accomplish. They give me objectives for my part, but that's as far as it goes. You look at the things they're having me put into these conversations, though, and it seems pretty fucking obvious to me the idea is to get them to tear themselves apart from inside. To clarify, nobody has actually SAID that to me. That's my read of what I'm doing. And like I said, the words for those posts are already there. The normal talking while I'm hanging around, sure, those are my words, but when something comes through the queue I'm not sitting there coming up with an argument. I put up the text they gave me. Data entry. Somebody else has to be covering the hours I'm not there, too. I'll come back and find something already posted under the account that I didn't put there, same name and same picture, and when I check the time it went up while I was off. It reads just like the stuff they give me to post. That's what I mean, nothing in the wording would tell me a different person did it. I don't know who they are. Don't know how many of them there are. I just know I'm not the only person using the account. Who the fuck knows everything that went on in Idaho. I certainly don't. What I can tell you is I've spent years listening to a bunch of degenerate Karens fight to be queen of the fucking hill over expensive reports that are mostly black pixels and zeroed audio. Then I get another alert and have to go put another sentence into it. Shit when I got back from the gulf I was doing seasonal post office work sorting letters in to zip code cubbies and moving shit off a conveyor. There was this guy who also came home from the gulf. He wanted to eat his gun every day. His words.
