There are kids outside trick or treating but I didn't buy any candy and don't have the light on. I guess I should have gotten candy, but I really don't want to be bothered with constantly opening the door and having to deal with it, I would also need to clean the driveway and porch, there's acorns and leaves all over. I'm just watching movies.
Each year there's less kids on the street, when I was a kid 35 years ago it was an event, people would decorate their houses, haunted mansions the whole shebang, the candy hauls were always good. Last year I bought some bags of candies and not a single kid showed up. I didn't buy any this year. The corporate takeover of everything turned things and now folks are cynical or will take their kids to specific gathering locations, not street by street like we used to. This is in the border with Texas. On the other hand, the day of the death celebrations have grown a lot, it used to be shunned or simply not acknowledge here in northern Mexico but that has changed a lot. Maybe I will put up an altar for my dead relatives and my favorite dead writers/artist.
The candy this year is so bad. It's barely even chocolate. I usually get "full sized" slop too. It was always bad but Jesus this Trumpflation shit is nuts.
