Just found out my ancestors rode with Pedro de Valdivia and died helping him put the Araucanos(the indigenous people of Chile) under Spanish steel. Am I supposed to feel bad about that? My blood, my family, my race are Spanish. Spain, Europe, and the wider West are one continuous civilization that started with Rome and conquered the world. The people who want me to apologize for it or pretend every mud hut culture was equal are traitors to that inheritance. Perhaps 25% lean more towards a castizo identity, while another 25% lean more towards their Indigenous roots. In any case, it also depends heavily on the region, its history, and its relationship with the Arauco War or with Peru/Bolivia
