if the saints have all got their own days, why do we need an all saints day. seems a bit fucking greedy an unchristian to require an extra day?

You fundamentally misunderstand what All Saints Day is. Individual feast days commemorate particular saints and their participation in the glory of God. All Saints Day, however, celebrates the Church Triumphant in its entirety; all those who have attained the beatific vision, including the innumerable saints who have never been formally canonised or publicly recognised.

The Church is one body in Christ, united across heaven, earth and purgatory. This is the communion of saints. The holiness of the saints is not their own independent achievement, but the work of God's grace in them. Consequently, honouring the saints is ultimately an act of glorifying God.
All Saints Day isn't an additional day of recognition for saints who already have their own feast days. It is a solemn celebration of the fullness of God's redeemed people, including those known only to Him.

All demon's day.
Why do you think they prepare us with witches and vampires and ghosts and monsters?
The saints are just kosher versions of pagan gods.
>>

It's not word trickery, it's a distinction based on what is actually being offered and to whom. We don't simply worship saints and give it another name. Worship is the adoration owed to God alone, whereas veneration is honour given to those whose lives reflect God's grace. The distinction is not a convenient loophole, it's a principle rooted in the early Church and explicitly maintained in Catholic teaching. You can disagree with the practice, but dismissing an established distinction as semantics doesn't actually address the reasoning behind it.

"Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the middle of the 20th century, in what is today the Colony and will then be the Republic of Ecuador, the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of customs (morals), for Satan will reign almost completely by means of the Masonic sects.

"They will focus principally on the children in order to sustain this general corruption. Woe to the children of these times! It will be difficult to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and also that of Confirmation... Often during this epoch the enemies of Jesus Christ, instigated by the Devil, will steal consecrated hosts from the churches, so that they might profane the Eucharistic Species...

"As for the Sacrament of Matrimony... it will be attacked and deeply profaned... The Catholic spirit will rapidly decay; the precious light of the Faith will gradually be extinguished... Added to this will be the effects of secular education, which will be one reason for the dearth of priestly and religious vocations.

"The Sacrament of Holy Orders will be ridiculed, oppressed, and despised... The Devil will try to persecute the ministers of the Lord in every possible way; he will labor with cruel and subtle astuteness to deviate them from the spirit of their vocation and will corrupt many of them. These depraved priests, who will scandalize the Christian people, will make the hatred of bad Catholics and the enemies of the Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church fall upon all priests...

"Further, in these unhappy times, there will be unbridled luxury, which will ensnare the rest into sin and conquer innumerable frivolous souls, who will be lost. Innocence will almost no longer be found in children, nor modesty in women. In this supreme moment of need of the Church, the one who should speak will fall silent."

It's actually one of the major solemnities in the Catholic calendar. It has roots in the early Church and is dedicated to honouring all the saints in heaven, both canonised and those known only to God. In fact, All Saints Day is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Latin Church, so its importance in the liturgical calendar is hardly marginal.

In Poland, All Saints Day is actually one of the most significant Catholic observances of the year. On 1 November, we traditionally visit cemeteries, clean and decorate the graves of loved ones, light candles and place flowers on graves. Cemeteries are illuminated by thousands of candles, and many parishes hold Masses and processions in cemeteries.
It is also a national public holiday here in Poland, so we have the day off work, allowing us to travel as a family and observe the occasion together.

I am enjoying the Solemnity. Understanding its religious significance doesn't detract from celebrating it, if anything it gives you a greater appreciation of it. But by all means, enjoy the day.
