Sat back inside watching a movie but in sight of the door to discourage people just pillaging the bowl. Maybe ten kids came by. At one point some teens came by. Dumb kid started to dump the entire bowl in his bag until his friend could be heard warning his conspirator that there was a dude inside watching them. He quickly replaced the bowl and walked. Not many visitors after that.This has been the norm since Covid. Trick or treating just isn’t a thing anymore- at least around here. Kids seem to be more interested attending mall parties and organized events.

Only a handful of houses per street had anything at all. Last year over 1000 kids were ojt here, this year maybe 300 or so. In my old neighborhood there were earlier several thousand people, but not this year. I blamed it on the economy, I think people couldn't afford it this year. My family is rather insulated from the broader economic issues going on, but we feel it. For whatever reason no matter how many times I tell my wife about this stuff, she doesnt get it
I don't have kids. Which was the number 1 reason I quit celebrating halloween. I tried to keep it up as long as I could. But being 35 and opening the door to waves of SPICS every 10 minutes got to me. I realized I'm never gonna have kids.
