This man was ON VIDEO RECORDING HIMSELF COMMITTING HIS CRIME And he was COMPLETELY ACQUITTED BY A JURY of breaking into a factory farm to rescue two sick piglets despite overwhelming evidence that he did it. They literally filmed themselves committing their “crimes” and confessed but were still acquitted. Before he went to trial his own attorney begged him to take a plea deal and plead guilty to reduce the amount of jail time he’d get when he was found guilty at trial but he went to trial instead and was found not guilty and got no jail time or punishment.

This
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_7q87fAYbZk 4 minutes and 30 seconds in you can see live footage from courtroom of the not guilty verdict being read.

The animal rescue took place in March 2017 at Smithfield Foods' Circle Four Farms in Beaver County, Utah, and the trial was held in neighboring Washington County, Utah in October 2022.

Beaver County is extremely rural, heavily agricultural, and politically conservative. In political elections, both Beaver County and Washington County voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump (winning roughly 80% and 70% of the vote, respectively).

Pregnant pigs were locked inside 2 by 7 foot metal gestation and farrowing crates, spaces so narrow the animals could not turn around. Many sows suffered from open pressure sores, were covered in feces, or bit cage bars until their mouths bled from distress. In one instance, a sow's nipples were so torn that her starving piglets were drinking her blood instead of milk.

Investigators documented piglets experiencing seizures, dying of starvation, being crushed under their mothers, or falling through metal floor grates and getting trapped beneath. The two piglets rescued by Hsiung (later named Lily and Lizzie) were severely malnourished, infected, and near death.

The Smithfield Foods Farm Trial

Following the release of the footage from the Smithfield farm, the FBI identified Hsiung and Picklesimer and began a multi-state chase. Agents raided animal sanctuaries in Utah and Colorado. At one sanctuary, a government veterinarian sliced off a part of a pig’s ear to test the DNA to try and identify her as a Smithfield pig

Is it attained using inhumane practices?
Yeah, it all is, everywhere.
Where do I get humane meat?

What do I eat if I want to avoid inhumane practices?

"Henpecking" happens no matter what. It's in their chicken DNA. When there's a ton of them in a confined space, yes, it gets worse, but it always happens. Even in a home coop, a new hen will upset the order and there will be a period of hen pecking to establish the "pecking order."

That seems like an employee problem, then. People bitching about the bosses not demanding humane practices with every single hen, every single time, means they're not telling people who have no empathy for the animals, or are outright sadists who receive sexual pleasure from causing the pain. This seems like a people issue, and you can get as specific as punishing specific people, should punishment ever culminate. It won't. They're chickens.

Pain nerves are distinct structurally and biochemically. Bivalves only need the older cannabinoid nerve system from the time when life erupted around sea floor vents. Your endocannabinoid system is how your stomach talks to your brain.

Hunter and Jones 1990 Behavioural evidence for persistent pain following partial beak amputation in the chicken

The researchers tested hens with drinking water at temperatures from 20 to 45 degrees celcus before and after partial beak amputation. Afterward the hens pecked less at their environment and wiped their beaks and shook their heads less and they pecked less at 45 degrees celcus water and drank less at every temperature. These changes are guarding behaviour and hyperalgesia that lasted 6 weeks at least 3 weeks after the beak had healed. That persistence is what makes it good evidence for chronic pain rather than just acute wound pain

>Partial beak amputation resulted in hyperalgesia which persisted for 6 weeks
>>
>>545332260
Yep. Because in a constantly-rotating and crowded environment, hen pecking never stops happening, and they peck each other bloody, or dead. All hens hen-peck to establish heirarchy. Home farmers don't have a constantly-rotating and large population that is never able to establish a peckng order.

The idea of zero factory farming is romatic and shit, but it won't disappear entirely, and in the end, we're eating them before they're two years old, so.... we shouldn't be cruel, but there are limits to empathy. I'd say that if I was a factory farmer, I'd probably have to develop a thick skin in that regard, and they all probably have.

I'd have to say that if they did it right, all they'd be removing is the hard, sharp keratin bit at the very tip to stop it from doing damage to other chickens. I wonder if the study looked at the varying methods and degrees of this. Doing it humanely would likely require intelligent people who cared doing the debeaking. They aren't that.

We weren't talking about eating a caloric surplus, and no, you're incorrect. Your body stores fat by a mechanism that's way more complex than "eat lots, get fat, eat little, stay thin." It matters what you eat, and also when you eat, and what you do surrounding eating. And more.

Simplifying things to the simplest equation isn't the same thing as being smart.

Eat your caloric fill in fat and protein for six months, then do it with only grains. No other changes, same caloric intake, six months each. The differences will be astounding. There's WAY more to it than calories in, calories out. Most whole foods have calories you don't access. Processed foods are instant absorption, or increased. Sugars and all carbohydrates under the most complex turn on the insulin response. Fat does not, and protein does it in a differnet manner at a reduced rate. If you have insulin iun your blood, you're making fat, even if you're fit, and it's only a little bit. No insulin, no fat is being made. Weight gain is a biochemical and biological process employing various hormones and dozens of other factors. You can sit on the couch and lose weight just modifying what types of food you eat, not in what quantity.

It's not the "pill" format, but the molecule. Some formulations don't absorb as well, or at all, so certain types of B vitamins will go right through you, while other formulas are better absorbed. Magnesium and calcium and almost every other vitamin has a variation that doesn't absorb.

If you keep moving the goal posts, you can just demand that you always only meant that.

Also, how many protein pills are you going to take? You need protein. It's dense and heavy, too. 50 protein capsules a day ought to be fun to take every day. Fat pills would be fun, too. Fat is better for you than all of them. Vitamins and pills most easily replace vegetables.

Unless you can show deficiencies in blood work and symptoms of disease in people living off of something like a meal replacement shake like huel or so ylent and nothing else for 6 months straight. Because yes synthetic vegan supplements including of nutrients like taurine only naturally found in meat do work.

Animals eat animals all the time, often alive.

We are already slaves. Only hunter-gatherers are free. I'm not going to eat slave food when there is still meat that we are supposed to eat svailable to us. If I'm goimg to be a slave I will make sure I have real food to eat, so I still have some dignity left. It's only one type of slave eating another slave.

Vegans are perfect little slavery promoters. If you actually cared about this you should do everything in your power to destroy civilization which is causing the enslavement of all animals (humans included obviously).

The only source of some of them is just hard water.
I can think of one thing that would stop any rational man from doing this even if they could. Eating is pleasurable.

meat is nutritionally superior in every way, and easier. If you want to be big and strong without an extreme diet, eat beef, not 50 various grains with incomplete proteins.

if pleasure is good then animal agriculture is usually immoral.

If an animal is living a mostly bad life, suffering massively in a factory farm and experiencing little wellbeing then it’s wrong to breed them into existence.

If an animal is living a mostly good life, perhaps on a pasture then it’s wrong to cut their mostly good life short by executing them when they’re a healthy teenager.

The Cambridge declaration of consciousness and New York update to it show mammals and birds are almost certainly conscious to a large degree and can experience significant amounts of pleasure and suffering

Pleasure is neutral. The enjoyment of pleasure is somewhat opinion-based and guilt-laden by large portions of the earth.
What if the animal is an asshole?

You're operating on the concept that either all animal life is precious, which the natural order automatically negates, since even factory farming practices is probably better than being ripped apart by wild dogs, or you're saying that by being human, it is your opinion that we need to adopt a moral code that denies us the right to do what they do to each other anyway, supplying us with complete nutrition ans tasty chicken sandwiches.

Don't even engage with his arguments. By engaging with his arguments you accept his premise. That morality is based on feeling bad and feeling good.

Under his system, he can not construct a coherent argument for bestiality being unconditionally wrong. He can not, for example, argue that a 500lb horse is harmed by having sex with a person with medical concerns well taken care of in advance. He must accept that the horse and human are cooperating to feel good together.

Under my system, having sex with a horse is a gross perversion, a complete inversion of the natural order upon which morality itself is based, and a cause of further evil. It must never be allowed.

under his system, what I call further evil (preferring animals to people or preferring animals and people equally) he would call "finally a good man"

He is on team horse fucker
His morals are basically hinduism with the faith stripped out and like a hindu he implicitly or explicitly approves of bestiality

Ever since the Neolithic we have been slaves. Grain slop fed the masses and consolidated power at the top. They created money, debt, work, and morals (which you use like the slave you are). The elite under this system always eats better because they don't have to follow the rules like you slaves. And that's how it has been since. Have you ever wondered how the turkeys are produced? The industry has a problem with producing turkeys, because they’ve genetically engineered the turkeys to be too large to breed properly. A turkey in the wild is only 8 pounds by the age of four months, while the turkeys we confine are 41 pounds by that time. This is the equivalent of a 4-month-old baby being over 75 pounds.

So, how do they produce more turkeys? They employ a procedure that we would uncontroversially call rape if done to a human, yet is given the clinical name artificial insemination. This involves holding down a male turkey, forcibly masturbating him, collecting the semen in a beaker, holding down a female turkey, and forcibly injecting the male semen into the female turkey, even as she thrashes and tries to get away. In nature, female turkeys evolved to be quite selective about those they mate with, and unsurprisingly find the experience terrifying. Those injecting the turkey semen into the female turkeys do this ghastly procedure about once every 12 seconds. One person who worked in the industry described:
>>
>>545338937
>>545337606
>The hens weigh 20 to 30 pounds and are terrified, beating their wings and struggling in panic. They go through this every week for more than a year, and they don’t like it. Once you have grabbed her with one hand, you flop her down chest first on the edge of the pit with the tail end sticking up. You put your free hand over the vent and tail and pull the rump and tail feathers upward. At the same time, you pull the hand holding the feet downward, thus “breaking” the hen so that her rear is straight up and her vent open. The inseminator sticks his thumb right under the vent and pushes, which opens it further until the end of the oviduct is exposed. Into this, he inserts a straw of semen connected to the end of a tube from an air compressor and pulls a trigger, releasing a shot of compressed air that blows the semen solution from the straw and into the hen’s oviduct. Then you let go of the hen and she flops away.
>>
>>545338969
>>545337606
Unsurprisingly, this is similarly unpleasant for the humans working in the industry. The same worker described:

>It was the hardest, fastest, dirtiest, most disgusting, worst-paid work I have ever done. For ten hours we grabbed and wrestled birds, jerking them upside down, facing their pushed-open assholes, dodging their spurting shit, while breathing air filled with dust and feathers stirred up by panicked birds. Through all that, I received a torrent of verbal abuse from the foreman and others on the crew. I lasted one day.

So that’s where turkeys come from. The industry holds down female turkeys and injects male turkey semen into them so that they can continue producing hideous monstrosities too large and disabled to breed, because that produces more turkey flesh.
>>

Sure I can.

1.I have a preference against bestiality.

2. I have the intuition that moral realism is true. I have the intuition that if something seems true and I don’t have any good reason to doubt it that it is probably true. It seems stance independently true that it is immoral for humans to have sex with pigs. I don’t have any good reasons to doubt this is stance independently true. Studies show most people agree with this. Therefore it is probably stance independently true that it is stance independently immoral for humans to have sex with pigs.

I can do this as an atheist or a theist. Most atheist and most theist professional philosophers are moral realists according to philpapers 2020 survey and about half of meta ethics normative ethics etc AOS lean towards vegetarianism or veganism

Much of the non human animal on non human animal sex in nature is immoral. Animals in nature do rape each other. Seems the crime wasn't particularly fowl.

Seriously though, this is what the Just-In-Time industry is all about, efficiency. You can say this is poor treatment and you are welcome to that opinion but if that's what you hold dear then start your own farm to help relieve others out there. The entire reason they're treated in this way is because demand is too high and not enough people want to be farmers, that's what happens when your society is obsessed with wealth or status instead of well-being. You can raise these animals with care but make no mistake, they WILL be used for people's sustenance and your most important goal should be to instill in society, that people should be respectful of the fact that these lives power our own. Stop pushing kids exclusively towards universities and make them farm first, society should make FFA or 4-H mandatory for high schoolers, private schools, home schools and make it a mandatory credit for university and colleges. Let the animals they tend be sold locally, that would be sustainable livestock welfare and also serve the purpose of teaching people while young to respect the lives they take.

This is such an American thing to do. Keep animals in the worst possible conditions and sooner cut off their beaks than give them more humane conditions.

Same with chlorinated chicken. The chlorination itself is no big deal. But it's banned in Europe because only filthy chickens kept in squalid and diseased condition require chlorination. Again, amerifats will sooner eat putrid chicken washed in chlorine... than address the cruelty that creates the need for washing in the first place.

humans are killed in the production and transportation of meat and vegetables. they die in traffic and workplace accidents. Some animals die for vegetables but they are not murdered like with the meat industry

https://anupamkatkar.com/2015/10/08/debunking-cultivating-crops-for-vegans-kills-more-animals-than-pasture-grazing-livestock/

The German study on common voles

Jacob and Hempel studied common voles on wheat fields and pastures in central Germany in 2002 to understand how farming practices alter their behavior. http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10164-002-0073-8#page-1 In this extensive study, they fitted radio collars to 85 voles and studied them before and after mulching, mowing, harvesting, harvesting and ploughing.

As expected, they found that any removal of cover, such as harvesting, mowing, or grazing cattle, decreased the spatial activity and home-range size of the voles, meaning that they didn’t travel far from their homes without the cover of vegetation. But they did not abandon the fields and did not shift their centers of activity. The voles rapidly adapted to the decrease in the height of vegetation and changed their habits, their travel routes and how far they traveled. Jacob and Hempel found that pretty much the only danger that agriculture presented to voles was an increased risk of predation. But they adapted by changing their behavior until the vegetation grew back. In this extensive, real-life field study, which used no controls, no manipulation and surveyed all agricultural activities, the data shows that actions like harvesting pose no threat to the voles. Quite the opposite of what armchair “experts” with an axe to grind claim about the impact of vegan food cultivation
>>
>>545341630
>a few countries in Europe that have completely banned these crates and mandate that the pig be able to completely turn around
That's nice and all but that's piss poor management that doesn't address the initial cause. Why were they placed in those to begin with? To meet a demand as efficiently as possible. The problem is that most of society doesn't care where their food comes from as long as it is AVAILABLE, that's the key here, the demand and expectation is too much with no compromise on society's part. This is why you make farming mandatory to secure food in the first place, you do it alongside your basic education, your kids get hands-on work experience to boot. If they feel they aren't cut out for it by the end, then university or blue collar jobs are still available to them at that point.
>>

You're a tiny minority within your nation's society, even more so amongst the world's population. I eat meat happily but probably not near as much as most people do, I fish a lot yet also raise my own in a fairly large backyard pond. I love smoking fish in the fall as a traditional thing and sharing with my neighbors around the holidays, I understand most people don't have that sort of leeway though. Our society is not only backwards and inefficient, it has long forgotten how to live amicably.

>>
>>545343915
A lot of people do but "too many chiefs and not enough indians" is a phrase I've heard all my life, nevermind that being chief or king comes with responsibilities most people simply aren't cut out for. I can give advice but I'm lost in the bureaucracy of it, if someone even decides to use my thoughts. I'm happy just being king of my own corner of existence and living well aside like-minded people but a lot of people out there don't know how to find contentedness.
>>
>>545344484
There are cheifs and indians, but there are also old trappers in the woods that don't want anything to do with any of them. In fact, I'd prefer to see the chiefs and indians mutually slaughter each other and leave me alone forever. I see the bureaucracy of it as if someone handed me the rules to the game Clue and said "these are the rules to life." There are no rules for people who can get around them; why should there be for me?
>>
>>545344867
If you don't want rules beyond your own you'll have to work for it (or be a ninja) for sure, that's life though you don't choose where you're born. We play the hand we're dealt but if we want to change society and by extension the bureaucracy, enough people have to be bothered. My advice? Make them bothered, the more you show them how restricted their lives are without valid reasons behind it, the more bothered they'll be. It's kinda manipulative but if people are trapped within the status quo then it's the only viable option. Violence usually gets crushed too fast after all.
>>
>>545345343
I'm too old to revolt and the system is too corrupt and the people are too stupid and I have too little money to sway them. It's futile.
>>
>>545345419
For you that may well be the case but that shouldn't hold you back from impressing upon others its importance, speaking costs nothing but time. Half the reason change doesn't happen is because we convince ourselves we're too insignificant to affect anything, the thought we don't voice fails to inspire another and nothing changes, a tree un-planted never has a chance to grow.
