Has /pol/ ever known anyone who is financially in the top 5%? Did you feel inadequate being around them at all?
>>545339464>Has /pol/ ever known anyone who is financially in the top 5%?yes >Did you feel inadequate being around them at all? no, in fact I feel quite a lot of empathy for them. Having that much money does solve almost every problem one might run into, and so your only fear becomes losing the money. The wealth really starts to own you, not to mention his children despised him and were only in his life because of the money.
Yes several, and no because I am hot and people like me. 95th percentile wealth is only $5 million. You know more than you realize.

>>545339464It just makes me feel bad because I realize the jews made it so I have no opportunity to ever get rich or even make a living, so I just have to hasten the collapse of the USA so we can all be on a level playing field and I can start building my wealth from there.
>>545339464I suppose my boss/father in law would probably be the top 5%. But most of it is in the business and business assets.I'm fucking his daughter so it doesn't really bother me.
>>545339464I guess I technically am, though I’ve never thought of myself that way and it’s mostly tied up in land and trusts and that sort of thing. My father never lived like it and I didn’t really know until I was old enough to be involved in the family business. Im glad he didn’t spoil us. Most of the rich people I grew up with were deeply unhappy and fucked up. They wound up pill heads and most of them are dead or in prison.

He daily drove an ancient Lexus that he had for like 25 years and would occasionally let me and his son take his Z8 out around town by ourselves. Their pool house, which was in their backyard, was legit a full fledged two bedroom house with a kitchen and everything. I was over there all the time playing guitar/drums/video games. And he basically turned the tennis court into a mini skatepark for us kids. His wife was, and still is, and absolute miserable cunt though. No fucking clue what he sees in her.

Some fucknut in a thread said I was LARPing because wealthy people don't get togo bags/boxes at restaurants. how out of fucking touch. I did it today with a tomahawk steak. who the fuck could eat that whole thing? plus my dogs love the bone. I have a close friend group in which I am probably the most "poor" kek. >>545340494>My father never lived like it and I didn’t really know until I was old enough to be involved in the family businessgot to be careful not to dox myself, but you are telling the story of a few close friends (brothers) of mine. billionaires with a capitol B and they didn't know it as kids. had to buy their own cars. park them on hills so the could roll start them and pop the clutch to get started, they weren't allowed to work for dad until they spent 5 years in a completely unrelated field. it wasn't even allowed to be remotely adjacent to dad's line of work. Dude had a new chick every month too while I was basically an incel cause all I did was work, study and go to the gym. I was kind of pissed off because I worked full time in addition to going to school and this faggot had all this free time. One time the dude banged on my door loudly at 7am in the morning after I worked all night to get up for "Residence Sports" and I lost it on him. He got so butthurt about my mean words that he reported me to the residence for misconduct but nothing came of it. Was worth it to give him a piece of my mind.

>>545339464Many. All of the time. I don’t feel inadequate, but I do feel a sense of injustice sometimes like I feel I am smarter and more capable than them even at what they do but they had better luck, connections, nepotism and a more supporting environment to thrive. Even though you guys play grab-ass in the bathroom, Dan and Mike will gladly fuck you over totally impersonally and they'll MAYBE feel bad about it for a few minutes before moving on and never thinking about it again. The reason why Dan and Mike are set for life is the exact reason why the rest of us can barely afford healthcare, if we can afford it at all. But sure dude, make sure you take some nice peeks at their cocks in the bathroom. Make some memories. Maybe it'll warm your heart when you get laid off and can't keep the fucking heat on.
>>545346757I had a dorm neighbour like that in university too. Dad owned thousands of acres and family was totally set up. This guy was a semi-pro athlete and serious about his studies, not a drunk idiot, readying for a masters in something niche where you need to be serious and curious. He was a well natured gentleman, but I was a socially awkward room hobbit so we really only ever exchanged pleasantries and shared a pitcher at the sports bar one time.
>>545349084It's a two way street broham, I'll just work somewhere else if I get let go. I'll also jump ship the second I get a better offer somewhere else. They know this; everyone knows this. I think your mentality is stuck in the past. I'm just saying I treat them like any other person and nothing bad has come of it over the last 4 years.
I have an uncle who's at least in the .01%. He co-founded a company that was very successful and became the largest in its industry after a series of mergers where his company remained on top. I don't know his exact wealth but it's at least a few hundred mil and possibly over a billion. He's a good guy. I'm 40 and have known him since he was a pretty normal upper middle class guy with a good job but still just a regular job at a company, and he's still a pretty normal middle class guy at heart. He was basically the guy with actual skills and his partners were the sleazy business jews who made all the deals. He's pretty low key about his money and doesn't have a lot of flashy stuff other than a few pretty expensive residences (like $5-8 million for the most expensive) that are very nicely decorated but he doesn't have supercars or a yacht or a jet or anything like that. It's kind of hard to explain how I feel around that side of the family. He remarried a few years ago (20 years after my dad's sister, his first wife, died) and his new wife's family are old money but everybody from my side and my uncle's blood relatives are pretty normal. Mostly it's just kind of weird and uncanny, this guy I've known my whole life who was financially similar to my parents is now unfathomably rich while my family haven't done so well. Weirdly I think he's kind ashamed to be so rich, and actually feels weirder about it than I do about him. Sometimes I feel really stupid for not just letting him nepo me into a cushy high-paying job, he's made it clear to me over the years that he'd be willing, but I find his line of work distasteful and I don't really have any aptitude for it, it's all corpo dealmaking shit and handling difficult people and I'm not any good at that. Instead I'm barely scraping by as a skilled tradesman, ironically like all of my ancestors before my parents' generation.
>>545349332>think your mentality is stuck in the past.Yeah, man. It is. It's stuck in a past where America at least fucking tried to be more than a common economic zone and rubber stamp for world-devouring greed. I think we should all try harder to maybe make that happen again. It's not a two-way street. That's pure cope. The owner class has resources in vast excess of the people who work to create their money. I understand the impulse to downplay the difference, but it's bordering on total farce. If it is a two-way street, they're driving superwide steamrollers and you're driving a Geo Prism.
>>545339464Quite a few. Before the lockdowns, I was up there myself. That’s why you see rich people hanging out with other rich people. It’s hard to know if someone’s interested in you for real or if they’re just interested in you for what you can do for them.
>>545348651>I fucking detest rich people.I don't look at anyone's wealth as a way to measure them unless it is someone choosing to be poor. I said it earlier, you would think I am poor as could be if you met me aside from boats and trucks. guess I'm blessed in that everyone with wealth I know is just cut from a different cloth maybe. preacher seen my truck for the first time today at church even though I've had it near a year to the day, I think he almost cussed (no he didn't). it really isn't that fancy, its what I wanted. everyone goggled it like it was a $million ride. nice? yes. did I get a deal on it? also yes. I don't piss money away.
>>545339464Yes, some family/friends. >family: he started a business as a tradie, grew it into a massive brand, sold it. super nice guy, was willing to invest tens of thousands into my crypto mining business (I declined because I knew it was volatile and couldn't get enough cards at MSRP anyway...)>wife was ridiculed for marrying a broke 'tradie' at the time (70s) and is now content and happy and rich. All her sisters still seethe and are divorced and miserable. >friend of a relative: became a pro-athlete chad, now makes bank training young pro-athletes. Started off as a normal dude, was just a freak athletically. Married a stacey, almost divorced her when she hit like 37 and was still putting off kids. Now they have a perfect family. She has probably cheated on him (lots of travel for work) but his business is doing well and he seems happy and is still friendly and down to earth with his old friends.
>>545349592You seem to be coming from a place of hate, while I'm coming from a place of indifference. Maybe it's my "privilege" showing, idk. They're just stupid faggots the same as anyone else. It don't matter, none of this matters. I don't care if they make $300k a year more than I do. They're nice enough and I don't talk to them any different than I would anyone else. I call him by them by their first names, they call me by mine, we exchange small talk pleasantries and go about our days. It's whatever.
>>545349397I strongly believe in the concept of noblesse oblige. Maybe mention that to him sometime. It might give him a sense of purpose. I'm nowhere near rich, but Christian teaching has made me sort of loathe making money, so whenever I start doing really well and build it up I instinctively want to spend it/get rid of it (eg. spend $500 on some starving artist's work that I don't really want as a form of charity, buy really expensive stuff for my family for Christmas etc.) I'm retarded so I just waste it on stupid shit, but he's smarter so he might be able to turn it to a good purpose like >>545347527 and use it to really benefit people. What's weird about modern society is that the rich aren't necessarily the ones who are best fit to lead society, so they have all this power and capability but no idea how to use it to better society. So maybe figure that out first and then put it to good use, instead of giving it to jewish hedge funds to use to destroy the country.
>>545350659>I'm nowhere near rich, but Christian teaching has made me sort of loathe making money, funny you say thatI was throwing money at the church I go to. name it, I bought it. small country church that would be considered primitive baptist by most standards. aside from my tithes, they near quit taking my money. /pol/ is all zog zionist israel blah blah, but there are good churches out there. you have to shop for them.maybe I'm looked at as an in case of emergency break glass kind of guy...not sure. do they think they are abusing me? it really is a want to do on my part and be one that does good. the vast majority of everything I've done was 100% anonymous aside from the preacher knowing. preacher had my credit card for nearly a year, never asked for a receipt. not bragging, but its like I have to look elsewhere to donate to. btw, I write none of this off, convictions won't allow it. end of the day, yes I hobnob with dickhead rich people. they are not my friends and I do not like them. luckily I have mostly cool friends. next to me is a bro with 6 White kids on 80 acres living next to me in a trailer, he's cool. in farness, the day his grandpa dies that owns the land, I'm buying it. has a landing strip and i just want one.

>>545339464Before they retired my in-laws were both physicians and they owned a practice together. At their peak before they started to work part time as they approached retirement their income was around the 97th percentile. They lived wasteful, albeit regular lives, as you would expect. Like they had a bigger house than us, but it wasn't like a mansion or anything. More expensive car, but nothing excessive. Really their lifestyle was just "always pick the upper middle class" option. If they went out to eat, it was never a cheap restaurant. If they went to a hotel, it was always the nice hotel. At the end of the day they still lived regular lives of get up, go to work, earn money, spend it; they just had more money to spend. Unless you're in the .1%, you pretty much are living that life. Even a high end surgeon or anesthesiologist or a high end investment banker, the people in the 1%, are living like an average person.

>>545339464Not known personally, but I used to work for wealthy clients. Some really rich people, higher than top 5%. Some of them were really chill and down to earth, others were entitled pieces of shit, others were eccentric weirdos. It's a mixed bag, like any demographic I guess. I don't know if "inadequate" is the right word, but I do have to admit that sometimes it could be frustrating watching how much money they spent while working for barely above minimum wage. And most of my contact to them was over the phone, so I didn't even get any advantages of being around that lifestyle, really. But it is what it is, just gotta make peace with it. I have to say though, it was the low tier millionaires who bothered me the most, they tended to be the most entitled and felt least deserving of their status. Again, inadequacy isn't quite right to describe how I felt, they mostly just pissed me off. The really wealthy, 1% people were more fun to talk to, they were the ones most likely to be chill or eccentric, and actually had an understanding of what their wealth entitled them to and wouldn't push it or take out their grievances on you. Unlike the lower tier guys who were always arrogant and had an unearned sense of entitlement and superiority, and felt like they could just demand shit and push people around.
