Was he supposed to lose all his friends and business connections for being a criminal? Obviously you wouldn't let him babysit your children or work as a teacher knowing that he was into underage girls, but the idea that once you commit a crime you must be punished in all spheres of your life seems bizarre to me. Not just from the criminals point of view but for everyone involved, it implies it's negligent to not do background checks on everyone you meet lest you be nice to a bad person, and that criminals like him should be pariahs for the rest of their life like in Jeet society. I've met/worked with plenty of people who weren't treated like that despite doing things like being whoremongers, cheaters, drunk drivers, faggot bashers, woman bashers, faggots themselves, militant nazis, vandals, schizos, scammers, etc. "in the sin is the penitence" they have enough punishment and humiliation just by being known for those things. It also doesn't sound like a very Christian attitude.
