How do we feel about Shrek (2001)? Is it one of the best animated movies of all time?
It’s good but the graphics have aged by now. I always preferred Shrek 2

The movie is a smarter, layered story about how an intolerant, antisocial incel living on his own can be rounded out through experiencing hardships and love. The virtues built in solitude and perfected when there are real stakes and real connections with other people triumph over the sterile, yuppie, controlled system. The movie communicates this without being preachy, as it doens't take itself very seriously despite these very serious themes.It couldn't be recreated today.
