Flying seems pretty fun. I am now enjoying driving again after having years of anxiety. My old car was rusty and my wheel almost fell off on Interstate 70. She needed like 1000 more flight hours and that shit is expensive. They'd been experiencing turbulence and icing for at least 10 minutes prior to this and its not unusual for a pilot to call an emergency and deviate from the flight path to avoid a storm. Its actually allowed in some cases. They should've let the ATC know they needed to go east to get away from the storm. The path he sent them on actually intercepted the developing and growing storm cell that killed them.
