People with severe antisocial disorders and invulnerability complexes are usually in charge of you. When I was doing my helicopter instrument, the school did an instructor swap out and gave me some guy that was previously fired from another school. You can’t really go instrument in a small helicopter, you just do simulated instrument. But the wx on this particular day was borderline IFR. He wanted to go anyways and just vector me around on a XC. He eventually convinced me to just roll with it. I didn’t want to argue because I wanted a job at the end of training. We made it to our fuel stop, then when he went to put fuel in, he put enough in to make it back on a good day. I question him about it multiple times and he just wouldn’t listen. So I thought “fuck it we can land in someone’s field if we have to. Sure enough halfway back to home base we ran into a wall of fog and had or divert around it which took 20 minutes. We made it back to the airport with the low fuel light on and had to shut down on the taxiway and have a fuel truck come out. He was never held accountable for that. He ended up crashing a helicopter a few years later. He survived. I was almost fired by the same guy that was in charge of that instructor because I got lunch with a client at a regular fuel stop and the helicopter wasn’t going to be where it was going by 5pm. No one told me they needed it there by 5. You’re pretty much always dealing with people that give retards preferential treatment, then treat you like like shit because you stopped for lunch.
