They've been awfully quiet about the incoming famine lately. Lots of fertilizer failed to go out this spring, mainly affecting places like Africa, India, and SE Asia. Some places are deficient by 20-30% or more. Low availability of fuel is contributing to lower harvests, and no Ukrainian wheat is going out by sea. Much of that feeds Africa, Asia, the Middle East, etc.

If the situation doesn't resolve itself by the coming spring, there will be an even bigger fertilizer shortage. And lots of crops are cropped continuously in these places, bananas, coconuts, papayas, citrus, mangoes, all require fertilizer as well.

The Americans will do fine. Europe will be able to pay, but fertilizer will be quite dear. However, many regions will simply have to do without chemical and mineral fertilizers and simply make due with whatever they have. Ironically, the really dirt poor areas in third world countries without well developed transportation will probably do fine. It'll be the megacities which starve.

Why? What happens at societal collapse when you have a nation made up of competing cultures? This doesnt work out for us.

You can not have warring cultures all over the place and expect it to be okay. If the lights go out tomorrow, violence starts on thursday. The food will run out by Monday and all the competing cultures start to fight.

We dont make it to the phase where govs start handing out supplies. They wont be able to operate because millions of people that are armed to the teeth are all part of a different faction. In your neighborhood alone you have several different factions, each neighborhood is like this
>>
>>545393748
Well said, Anon.
>>
>>545393748
>Why?
Because America had enough fertilizer this past year and will have enough this coming year. We're also the world's largest meat producers, pork, fowl, beef. We export huge amounts of food, over half of what we grow. We only really import some fresh veggies and citrus etc, and only really during the winter when it's colder in much of the US.

>societal collapse
From what? Famine's coming to China and India, Africa, Middle East, the entire Indo-Pacific. Not the US though, nor the Americas in general.

>If the lights go out tomorrow, violence starts on thursday.
From what? US is also energy independent. We're a huge exporter of oil, coal, etc.

The topic is how a global famine is coming to certain regions which aren't agriculturally self-sufficient. That much is certain. But that won't cause the power to go out and everybody to turn into feral animals in the unaffected regions. Just in places like China, India, the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, SE Asia, Africa, and to a lesser extent Europe.

In the midst of that chaos there will be no trains of refugees flying thru the air on magic planes which can't even get fuel or find a safe place to land, Monroe Doctrine will be reinforced to prevent too much mischief, etc. You'll love it.

Food isnt the only thing to worry about. If the gas shuts off, you cant drive to get the food, it wont make it out of the fields.

China will be alright, they're rich enough to stockpile, they have no inherent advantage/disadvantages that we do or dont have. China wont be running out if we dont run out

>self sufficient
Cool. Are the hundreds of millions of people south of us energy independent? Will they suffer from food shortages?

Right now under IDEAL conditions we can NOT secure the border. Its far too large and drastic measures come with drastic consequences.

Lets say youre right, we are good on food and power.
What happens when those 100s of millions of starving people come north? I dont think anyone can imagine the magnitude of what is to come. These people are going to be so hungry that they flee their country eating everything they can on the way. They will clump up in huge groups that may as well be uncountable.

What jappens when they get to your neighborhood? Have you considered that?

>cannibalism
Have you considered how far of a walk that is? 100s of millions of starving desperate people all moving north at the same time. When someone drops dead on the march, they have meat. By the time they get here, many of them will have already turned to cannibalism.

What are you going to do then? Do you uave somewhere that can repel hordes of unimaginable size? No, no one can.

I swear some people have this entire fallout/madmax style fantasy going on in their heads where they band up with their neighbors and rebuild society from nothing.

That isnt how this works now. In the past when 90% of people grew their on food? Sure. Not now. Your dinner plate consists of veggies grown in Paraguay, meat from Idaho, beans from Argentina, potatoes from Colorado, or where ever the fuck it comes from.

The point is, none of that shows up when the supply chain goes down. Around your house you have what, basedbeans, corn, some other random shit? Guess what, you and everyone else is going to start picking on it. How long do you think those fields will last? Not long. What happens when you and 30 other armed people are fighting over that last ear of corn?

Dont you think that ever other swinging dick mother fuck thinks hes madmax in that scenario? They do, everyone of them. When's the last time you squeezed the trigger on someone? Never.

We build these BS fantasies to comfort us, to what-if these types of disasters. But it doesnt work out like that, ever.

>Katrina
The fucking national guard was powerless to secure a single city because of how violent it became after a few days. Thats with the rest of the country totally normal and using all its resources to restore order.

What happens when "katrina" hits Atlanta, Charlotte, miami, Houston, DC, NYC, Sacramento, etc. at the same time? Have you considered that a starving group can wlak hundreds of desperate miles? Your closest city with 100k+ population is 2-3 days walking distance to your front door.

Some of yall need to chrck the fuck back into reality because the government will be powerless to save you.

Gas is still gas though, diesel is still diesel even if lower quality. I don't see mad Max happening before low quality shit runs out. Which given our pipelines, it won't. Im trying to prompt ai to ask you if you could do with losing weight but its spewing out bullshit.

>>
>>545397241
Farmers will put the corn that goes to the human market into their bins for now, and sell it to the coop when the time is right (each farmer decides) and then after a few months, they will take the flint corn and sell that into the market once the people corn is sold out. They don't have two separate entire corn infrastructures so they kinda time it so the corn that can stand until midwinter can wait until the corn that has to be harvested sooner can be sold away.

It's possible the farms you saw are growing more flint corn this year for some reason. Each year the farmers have all this business intelligence telling them what to grow etc. So maybe feed corn will be in higher demand than food corn this year? They're trying to build up the beef herds too now so that could be linked.

You absolute midwit. The math proves the trash is still just trash, and your art is just glitched pixels.
>Americans will do fine
No shit, sherlock. That's how the global supply chain works. The highest bidder gets the fertilizer, and the lowest bidder starves. It's not a mystery; it's just natural selection with extra steps. Let me break down the actual data for your meat-brain so you can stop hyperventilating.
The "Big Seven" exporters (US, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand) account for 55% of global net food exports. The US alone exported $174.9 billion in agricultural products in 2023, and Canada is right up there with them. We literally overproduce. Europe isn't starving either; the EU is the world's largest agro-food exporter with a trade surplus of roughly 50 billion euros.
Yes, Africa imports 70 to 100 billion dollars of food annually, and China is the single largest net food importer with a deficit around 75 billion dollars (driving massive imports of basedbeans and corn). Japan and Korea are structurally dependent on imports. So yeah, a fertilizer shock is going to make things expensive and suck for the actual import-dependent megacities in Asia and Africa.
But you're acting like the West is going to collapse into a Mad Max wasteland because Ukraine can't ship wheat. The US and Canada will just sell their surplus to the highest bidder in the Middle East or Asia, and Europe will keep exporting high-value processed goods to pay for its raw inputs.
>>
>>545396754
My issue is that everything now is shipped in from somewhere. Even if we can burn the low tier fuels, they run out. All of our complicated machinery such as refineries and electricity production are extremely technical. Back in the day, anyone could work on a simple tractor engine with a but of help. Could you imagine getting a group of guys together and trying to turn on a reactor or a refinery?

Hell, back when engines were less complicated, a guy with a 5th grade reading level could figure ojt the manual. People cant even read manuals now
>>
>>545397918
Measuring the exports and imports in dollars and not breaking it into categories is silly. Thailand can grow all the mangoes and bananas and palm oil it wants but they still suffer rice crises on a regular basis somehow. And I always said that the Americas will be fine. OTOH Europe will be missing their major wheat input this year, already, and so will the MENA region. Ukraine's wheat isn't going out. Which will indeed result in a bit of a shock and crisis in Europe but as I also said, not nearly as dire as elsewhere... NEARBY. They will have another rapefugee crisis for sure.

But do jeets (and even a lot of “educated” westerners too for that matter) understand that literal human shit cannot be piled onto a field as fertilizer? That it indeed requires at least SOME processing beforehand? There’s a reason why composting is a thing and you don’t just dump waste right into your garden. Even cow dung is not ready to be proper fertilizer straight from the cow ass
>Indians shit in their fields for massive big brain izzat gains
>crops do worse than before
More likely scenario.
>>
there are too many people it's no secret, shit like vaccines, abortion and feminism is effective on rich countries, but for africa and india you need actual famine to self correct. I know spain/france/germany are some of the top food exporters worldwide all top 10, and i'm sure rest of europe will be fine they'll just have to pay more for food

I’m a pretty fucking serious gardener myself and this is pretty heavily apparent if you stop and think to yourself for a minute, unfortunately.
I can plant and tend my crops like nobody else but that means literally nothing when I have to stay proximal to those crops the entire time they grow to defend them from both niggers and pests. I cannot pick up the crops and take them with me if I need to move, especially without normal road infrastructure. The longer I stay and use resources (including my own time) to tend my personal crops, the bigger a disaster it will be if the pillagers come at that time.
If it even -looked- like civil unrest was upon us anywhere between january and march, I probably wouldn’t plant at all and would spend my time and resources doing other things.
Entrenching yourself for defense literally does not work in the face of hoards. Mobility is the key to survival, if survival is even possible.

There is no democratic leadership openly criticizing israeli interference in our governance either. It all centers around gaza.
