Most probably don't know anything about the plants of the woodlands when you get down to it. It is mostly performative I am convinced. It is such a lonely obsession to have honestly. Maybe it's a good thing it isn't as driven into the ground idk. The amount of time and money I have piddled away over the years with this fascination sometimes bothers me. Anyways, they aren't alone. Most outdoorsmen, hunters, hikers, etc. Just scratch the surface on that stuff. They like the idea of knowing plants but liking the idea of it isnt the same as just having a fascination with plants. I mean some people might know the basics. But it takes decades with the obsession and almost daily involvement to start getting a real grip on it. Depending on the region I am not sure a lifetime is even enough. Maybe it would be in like an alpine type place where the variation is somewhat limited.
