It's just a mere tool like democracy. It's useful to cut through stagnant consensus. However, just like any tool, whether it's good or not depends on the wielder. Fundamentally, all forms of governments are dependent on the quality of the people wielding it. Even in "democracy," it's really about filtering it down to select representatives to govern past the full consensus of the masses.
In our case, autocracy would do wonders if we can get just one good person vs having to find hundreds in this swamp.
