>Bread takes too much effort
get a bread machine and premade mixes. Not as cheap, but I get mixes from Germany and it all works out cheaper still than buying that shit they call bread in American stores and is filling and great. Takes almost no effort to make, just put as much water as the package says into the machine, then the mix. Push a button and couple hours later, fresh european bread

I remember my dad had a bread machine, and he tried to make this raisin bread that was so hard and fucked up even the raccoons and birds wouldn't eat it.
it sat in the yard for 3 months before it finally rotted away..
>>
>>545662890
I got one of those things. I use it to make scratch white bread. Just kinda dump everything in, give it a quick stir, and let it do its thing.

It can't do like, anything too fancy, but the basic stuff it can handle.

>>545660177
Drop biscuits take like 5 or 6 minutes to prepare and another maybe 10-15 to bake. For fresh, warm bread. Get ya some honey to dip em in, or sop up steak juice at dinner. Fucking delicious. It's easy bro. So easy we put women in charge of it and it actually worked for a little while. Every man can cook, and be good at it with just a little practice. You ain't learning astrophysics or creating a new language here.

no, potatoes are for Indios and Irishmen. Bread is the true white man's food. You probably think it isn't filling because you are eating that shit in US stores that would legally be called cake elsewhere. True a real sourdough rye from european grain, super filling.

don't forget okinawans who regularly live into their 90s with a diet of 70% potatoes.
i bake my own bread when i do eat it but semi-dwarf wheat is barely edible. the price of real wheat flour is insane and not worth the price. potatoes are a borderline superfood and only 100 calories a piece and one of the highest foods on the satiety index. if you eat only bread you're not getting any resistant starch so your lower intestine microbiome starves and dies off. even with real wheat flour bread is still far less nutritious than a basic russet potato. sweet potatoes are even better for you. take the potatopill.

>>
>>545657748

Most people make terrible bread .. supermarket strong flour is the same they use to make supermarket bakery bread .. to get really good bread you need to mill your own wheat, use fresh wheat (no sat in storage for a year) and you need a good mother yeast, and a good oven .. otherwise you are just wasting your time and effort.

this chili had garden grown green and red peppers, thai dragon chilis, jalapenos, and seranos, plus a bunch of the store-bought chili powder.

>>
>>545671920
>>545672367
upkeep or costs related to storage like i dont want to have to store more things that i need to enjoy soup. that includes broths and spices/herbs. it sounds like im going to have to either compromise on my goal or go full water with natural flavor from ingredient build.
>>
>>545671263
I made cornbread muffins and I put a bunch of honey into the mix. they turned out really good.
I'll be freezing a bunch of containers of the chili to enjoy later.
I like making chili macaroni and cheese bakes with the containers of chili.
>>
>>545672485
That's a wrong intuition. Eating hot soup in summer feels great, it's similar to drinking any hot drink in summer. It actually helps you tolerate the heat.
>>

Hello Soupanon. How fat are you now?

Yeah I live in a wetland area of texas soup during summer sounds terrible
>>
>>545672575

I worked at a gyro shop and the owner was a 70 year old greek guy.
he would drink cups of hot water out of the coffee machine all day even in the summer when it was well over 100 degrees behind the counter.
I thought he was just a crazy old man.

>>545672513
I usually just mix it with cooked rice and drink zero coke on the side
>>

Without spices you have to reduce the water on low heat and it costs more due to energy cost. Otherwise it would taste watery.

>>Wild Mushroom Soup Scented with Truffle Oil and served with a Parmesan Twist

>>
>>545673414
your soup looks frilly and pretentious, like someone I would overpay for at a snobby restaurant. give me the op soup with the carrots and onions.
>>
>>545673420
What about baking bones and then boiling them to make the base? It's the first steps to prepare one of the most famous meat sauces called Demi Glace.

Boiling bones ain't really news but the secret to get it's real flavor is to put them in the oven first.
>>
>>545665698
>>corn
Yeah the corn is shit in there. Low grade pig food. I like the chili more like a stew rather than a soup.

Take 4 or 5 sheep shanks. Dump in a large bottle of inexpensive red wine in a big pot. Let it steep at just below boil point for 4 hours. Eat the sheep shank. so tender it's falling off the bone. Then take the cold leftover broth and scrap the floating fat off and throw that out. Then when you want soup heat up that deep dark broth. It's very close to the famous Spartan black broth that their warriors fed on.
>>
>>545673705
what about rotisserie chicken bones?
>>
>>545673705
>>545673899
You don’t have to bake the bones. Collagen and fat just seep out during cooking. Then you just turn off the stove and let the soup rest and cool. Later, you remove the bones.

Le Crocodile in Vancouver is superb. Get it on the lunch menu with their lobster tempura salad. The lemon/olive oil oil is superb. About the same price as a hamburger fries and shake lunch at mickey d's.

It's as good as it gets anywhere west of Toronto in Canada.
>>
>>545673899
>>545674077
But you bake bones exactly to get the mailliard effect from it's sugar molecules. You surely get fat from simply cooking it but you lose the caramelization that grants color and flavor to your base.

It can be done to chicken, pig, cow, lamb, you name it. Grab the bones with a little or no meat on it, you call, put it on the oven, let it cook nice and brown and then boil it to make a very rich base.
