Genuinely I think the GOP is dead. This crushing defeat proved a few things: 1. the era of boomer security is over. No more sitting back in confidence as the retarded 60+ demographic votes republican for more assurances on their three homes and yearly cruises2. young white men are the only demographic they got. The indians didn't vote for them. The blacks, the jews, the mexicans, NONE OF THEM VOTED FOR THE RIGHT. You either appeal to the young white men of the right or you will never see power again.Simple and straightforward but the GOP won't learn anything out of this. Remember that republicans were basically in a tailspin after the Obama years with no idea what to do, and thats why they rallied around Trump and MAGA in 2016. Purely based on messaging and policy, if the democrats successfully do ANYTHING with this majority they have they will earn a tremendous amount of public support, and with how bad the economy is if the dems don't fix it we're all boned anyway. But the real impact is democratic state level control in places that haven't had it in decades. Expect redistricting, laws expanding access to early voting, etc that takes what used to be safe red areas and make them in play in future years even after this blue wave passes (since this was clearly a one time thing). And if the national popular vote goes through, everything is up in the air but in a way that shoots the republican party right in the dick for any future presidential election, it would FORCE them to evolve into a completely different party or become irrelevant.

Between what I and my company pay for my health insurance it is at $7500/yr for a plan where I have $2000 out of pocket deductible maximum for the year. It honestly isn't that bad as I make 75k before bonuses and only pay $25/month while company pays the rest of the 7.5k/yr. I do opt for the lowest tier while the higher tiers can get up to 13k/yr but include things like long term disability or life insurance.Compare that to the highest tier "gold" plan that members of congress can choose. The gold plan cost $11400/yr with 75% of that being paid by you and me and the member of congress paying the rest. With a maximum out of pocket around 6k/yr. So lets assume 17,400/yr. My 7.5k/yr including what I and my company pay in medicare tax before bonuses comes out to 10100/yr. As a reminder I pay for the lowest tier, if I paid for the highest tier which includes many benefits the gold tier congress has access to then I would pay more for equal benefits. So it seems government healthcare would indeed be cheaper.That tangent aside, if Democrats stick to a few basics and also implement the promises Trump made on affordable housing, lower prices and ending wars then they kill GOP.
