Yesterday hohols performed an attack with 2 dozens of land drones carrying dual-RPGs each, and a dozen of suicide ones carrying large load of explosives.
The attack was stopped with air drones before it reached anything, but the point was made: now land drones are getting mass-produced enough for such stunts to happen, while couple years ago they were novelty, and 4 years ago they were essentially nonexistent.

And, no, I don't fucking care about ammo depots and refineries and power-plant transformers that do nothing to either side for more than a few hours when hit.

I've been saying they should start mass producing goliaths again since 2023, but other than that land based drones are really a novelty. They're gonna get stuck too easily, too difficult to maintain for long, and ultimately they lack the flexibility of the humble pekhotinets. Single use munitions carrying a much larger explosive than a drone could ever carry to demolish buildings and bunkers makes more sense. On the other hand, logistically these will be revolutionary

i think they have a lot of useful potential beyond just basic logistics, especially when used alongside infantry.

>force recon (drawing enemy fire to ID enemy positions)
>load carrying for infantry units
>casualty evac

Why not use those man-carrying drones to drop robots closer to the enemy?
>>
>>545715326
To be precise, the technical term is PidorBot™. They’re even more advanced than their Ukrainian counterpart because they come factory-equipped with three modes:
- Walk Mode: for traversing terrain and reaching the destination
- Charge Mode: In this mode, a small charging plug extends and docks with another PidorBot™ from behind. This allows them to efficiently share battery power during combat. The Russian Ministry of Defense is working hard to deploy the new PidorBot™ "Rooster" model in combat for an even more efficient distribution of power
- Confetti Mode: This is a defensive measure that activates as soon as they are detected by a Ukrainian drone. They explode into thousands of pieces to limit the damage. However, this still has a drawback, as it has not yet been determined how they are supposed to reassemble themselves in the field.
No anal-log to the West!

Russia hasn't changed their tactics since the cold war (at best). They drive up with their veichles in a single straight line and disperse when they arrive at the destination.
Despite proven very ineffective in modern combat they keep driving in the same single line through minefields, drone infested areas and javelin kills zones.

given the low value placed on human lives by both sides in the conflict, is a Johnny-5 better than a person? they can't react, they can't quick manoeuvre, they can't climb stairs or enter a house or cross a fence. can they hold any land? while a dead soldier can't hold land either, i don't see the great advantage in these robots.
as mobile drone launchers i can see they are good but not really as robot combatants
>>
>>545715932
You have to admit that Ukraine has been far better than Russia at procuring and using drones. It's one of the reasons why Russia has been practically unable to gain ground for over four years (remember, Russia occupied the most territory in Ukraine two weeks into the war). It's also why Russia's oil and gas sector, which is basically the only thing keeping the Russian economy going, is in shambles, with Ukrainian drones, not even missiles, now hitting refineries a thousand miles inside Russia.
>>

Ukraine has been a step or two behind the drone war the whole time, but they did pass a critical point in 2025 that saw them gain the ability to truly counter Russian advances and strike Russian targets. You’re rewriting history.

Dunno know. The only advantage that comes to mind off the top of my head. Where the fiber-optic drones and the drone nets. Everything else was first seen on the Ukrainian side. One of the biggest leaps forward, for example, was GIS Arta. The system was introduced in the first few months of the war, and to this day I don't know if there's a Russian equivalent to it. Do you have an example?

Ukraine is faster in testing -- yes, but Russia is better in mass deployment.
Simple decentralized vs centralized system.
Also, since Ukraine is backed by the West, Ukraine has a better PR, but both sides itself are pretty equal. It is about who runs out of real soldiers first
