To add to this thought, not the biggest fan of socialized healthcare either. Reforming the system requires extremely careful structuring of public goods where it counts, and private incentives to keep fraud in check and research breakthroughs on track.
I don't have a direct solution, but a program that offers a limited amount of free doctor visits and generic medications covered seems a reasonable first step so long as you have oversight to prevent collision to raise prices collectively.... But arguing over the super complex field of medical care isn't the point of the thread...

I find the great irony is people were telling him explicitly what they were upset about, he dismissed it all as trannies, commies, GROYPERS, and furries.
Then when people told him that midterms were gonna be a blow out due to the shitty policies he was sweeping for he lived in delusion and said that Republicans were more popular than ever.
Now that he got proven wrong and blown out he is shitting on things like the healthcare services HE ON RECORD USES, simping for data centers that HIS CITY IS A PRIME CANDIDATE FOR ALLOWING DUE TO HEAVY FRESH WATER AND COLD CLIMATES, and ignoring that he is kinda the problem cause he not only antagonized "the libs" he pissed off his own fans then smeared them as liberals for not mindlessly sucking Trump's cock.

The part where "the frontier edge is walking out the door". It isn't.
>They have been building data centers all over the world. Remember Iran attacking the Saudi ones?
>Even if the data centers move.... The companies are still American and have been listed under national security arms designations making selling frontier AI the same as selling a nuke
>The "jobs created" are the construction jobs, and thats it. The actual centers outsource most of the less than 20 jobs they create and demand everyone pay for their electricity, water, and taxes. This isn't Amazon asking for free utilities and tax breaks to employee 20,000 people who will also pay taxes. It's asking for your state to cover a powerbill on par with Manhattans power bill, so they can employee indians and fuck up your drinking water supply.
>The money making part is vastly overstated. Open source models are using less resources and releasing for free.
BTW, the "arms race" for AI isn't as dramatic as it's attempted to be played off as. If it were China and the US would not be sharing the same AI scientists.

AI has a future, just not the one corpo fags want where you rent computer software from them per hour while also paying them per token and paying their electric bill.

China is giving it away for free and their citizens aren't having problems from the data centers.
China isn't the bad guy in the AI story.

Meanwhile American AI companies purposely fucked RAM prices, want to sell you back your own data, and want you to pay for their electricity and water while firing you and stealing your content but suing you fir infringement on them...
Funny part is no one would care about data centers if they didn't fuck up the water, air, and electric prices.... But we live in such a corporate welfare state retards just rubber stamped approval instead of stopping and trying to do the math of if cutting oversight and giving subsidies lead to a net increase due to employment taxes from job creation
>>
>>545728315
Problem is the 3rd world doesn't have the electric grid for data centers.
So expect natural gas to spike to cover the onsite generator turbines and 3rd worlder to revolt due to air becoming unbreathable
>>
>>545729162
There is a global competition for actually holding GPU clusters since that will determine the amount of AI labor you can activate and how much profit you can make due to the AI tech revolution.

Every data center built somewhere else represents GPU's we haven't captured

>AI drone swarms are the weapons of the future.
True. However...
>If you think that they are gonna be human contrilled you are forgetting the UT Austin study in early 2010s showing the GPS signal in drones themselves can be a hacking vector.
>This is why autonomous is what they are pushing so hard. No external way in.
>Problem is it still needs orders. Goal is for it to get orders, take the input and choose to follow it itself but also exercise superior strategy and judgement.
This hasn't been going very well. Turns out the companies saying they can do this are failing basic maneuver tests.
Another problem is that if a drone can listen to input orders, whats to stop an enemy from giving input orders impersonating the one giving orders.
And if you think 1 time use ai kamakazees are the solution, you're not gonna be happy when you learn that advanced AI has strong self preservation.

>you are a CCP commie who doesn't support American jobs

China has by now significantly scaled back its AI efforts. No doubt they have realized that AI is mostly as good as it is going to get, and from here on out investign in AI means ever larger costs with significantly diminishing returns.
Leave it to amerimutts to make some sort of pseudo religious saviour cult of a simply technological development. You freaks are completely obsessed with the idea that AI isn't a novel tool, but the Mosiach himself returnded to earth. Full on barmy.

>Global
Its basically just China and the US pushing the tech forward
>GPU clusters determine how much AI labor you can run
If you don't run a local model...
You are also assuming that you need a subscription....
You realize the subscription model doesn't work for AI and they want to charge PER TOKEN for something that doesn't always give you what you asked for.
>Every Data center represents Gpus we captured
You realize that the GPUs have a 3 year life cycle when running 24/7 at full power right?
Or that once production goes to RAM and Lithography and Chip production you don't have to be the best, you just have to be "good enough"

But even then, the US model is retarded.
>Pay us a monthly fee for our special models
>Ummm actually you also have to pay us for using it per token generated
>And our guardrails make sure you don't have any wrong think or reach wrong think conclusions
>Also we get to use all data you input and you have no privacy
>Also you power bill is now fucked to pay for a service you don't use
>Also we're gonna try and prevent you from working and take your job
>Also we'll fuck up your drinking water from time to time
>Also we use circular funding and are gonna collapse your 401k to get the money for it
>Also we fucked your console and PC prices to sell you our console and PC streaming services that surveill you 24/7 and steal whatever you do to train AI.
An open source model doesn't have to be "the best" just good enough.
And most of them are only 1 year behind the bleeding edge.

A reasonable first step is killing everyone responsible for the industry wide fraud. No other industry is as reluctant to be transparent about pricing. In no other industry can you so consistently get away with charging for things you didn't do, throwing in extra charges after the fact, or refusing to pay out previously agreed upon contracts. It's entirely possible that government subsidized isn't even necessary. But it's impossible to know that while everyone from the doctors up to the multinational insurance and pharmaceutical companies are all worse scammers than the lowest jeet.

Even if you believe in AI, what's so bad about having datacenters consume water, electricity and create pollution on the other side of the planet instead of next door? It doesn't even create jobs, not really, other than temporary demand in the construction sector which is doing fine in US.
