Why does nobody talk about the reason healthcare is so expensive in the first place?The answer is Government Intervention.Healthcare used to be cheap in the 50s and 60s before the government started heavily intervening in the market which gave health insurance companies a monopoly.We need to go back to a free market model in healthcare to force prices down and break the health insurance cartels. It's the only way out of this mess and it's very easy to pass these reforms.Like did you know it's fucking illegal to build a new hospital in most states unless your competitors agree you let you compete with them? Look of certificate of need laws. What kind of bullshit is that?

At had to do an extremely in-depth analysis of healthcare costs for my job several years ago. American healthcare is extremely expensive for 5 reasons:1) free riders - the spic-nig cycle basically2) insurance cartels that are just allowed to exist 3) debt based payments4) price cartels that are just allowed to exist 5) R&D costs and equity indirect subsidization by taxpayers and consumers i.e. when Vivek makes $6B pumping a bullshit stock that money ultimately comes out of your paycheck All of these are just allowed to be the case by the government regulators.
