Where does this notion even come from that Texas is somehow inherently a Red state and it turned Blue now through black magic? Back then in 1976 Jimmy Carter the Democratic nominee won by taking Texas. In 1976 Texas was Democrat and California was GOP.
Oh wrong file. Nevermind. This is the map.
>>545787544>black magicThe vast lands of Texas is used for agriculture and guess what happened to the price of fertilisers, diesel, and power. Texas isn't all cities, they can't just tank the prices.

>>545788707Indeed.
>>545788206Democrats were the original “right/conservative “ party founded from Thomas Jefferson’s democratic-republican party and the “radical republicans “ were the progressive party (founded in the 1850s) that attracted immigrants. In the first half of the 20th century they slowly switched (to an extent, you could argue the Republican Party is still fairly “left” and just got leap frogged by dems). The Democratic Party in the south remained conservative (much, much less immigration and damn Yankees in those days) for longer than the rest of the country.
>>545790426Aha. I see.
American political parties pre 2000 makes no sense to me. If there were so many Conservative Democrats and Liberal Republicans what held the parties together? What made a New England Republican a Republican? What made a Southern Democrat a Democrat? What made anyone a Republican or a Democrat?

An important dichotomy sprang up in the 90's: California vs Texas. Socialism vs capitalism, hippie minimalism vs truck guy excess. Cowboys vs faggots. Being the 2 biggest states it was also important for political balance for one to be blue and the other red. So it's ingrained in this era's popular conscious. But inevitably, spics vote socialist. And spics voted socialist. It's ogre.
>>545793851One was more working class soft socialism (unions, safety nets, etc), the other was more business class laissez-faire (lower taxes, lower spending, economic freedom). It was a far better dynamic than what we are plunging into now. Gay nigger communism.
>>545787544>it turned Blue now through black magicimporting gorillions of shit-skins who want to destroy civilization is what's going on everywhere all over the western world
>>545792754In large part it was about identity. Republicans let themselves be cast as the party of business tycoons and the rural uneducated poor, so all the newly educated Boomers with easy jobs who wanted to be seen as "working class" had to be Democrats, even if they were ultra conservative in their personal lives and even though they often thought of actual working class people as gross and avoided them. Also back in the 70s and even 80s many were literal Communism enthusiasts.
>>545794421Aha, okay.
>>545787544>>545787572Half a century is a long time.
>>545787572US politics were more regional back then, and Dems hadn't conquered the West yet. NE Republicans were more liberal. California had yuppie Reagan libertarians who cared about shekels, mountain west were also libertarian. Southern Democrats were rednecks who gradually shifted red after Dems embraced hippie faggots like Mcgovern, but they could still vote blue for conservative dems or Southern area dems like Clinton or Carter
