Except he was a lousy military leader with a tiny population to work with. After his military defeat he refused to surrender and sent the entire population off to fight (even sending children to the front with fake beards glued on).He finally died in battle after 60% of the population had been killed and 90% of men in the country were dead. (Never came across such high stats before).Today, Paraguay still hasn't recovered from that carnage and remains a small, weak, impoverished country.I hope Americans learn the lesson of what happens when a country is run by a completely insane egomaniac who starts wars he can't win and has zero empathy.
