I was able to, based off the market today, buy into both precious metals and build a robust stock portfolio on top of my retirement and am fairly insulated even in major valuation losses. My house will be paid off in the next 18 months. I've been able to genuinely afford a great life for my wife and kids. I literally have about everything I could want at this point besides all my values being represented by my government which I'm sure very few have ever truly been able to say with confidence.I fully believe I would never of found my way to this life as a later generation, being that I credit my success to getting into cars in an era where a 300-500hp car builds were quick and able to be built/bought for ~$5000 as opposed to today's shitboxes that cant be self-repaired and blow engines at 20k miles.

This year we completed our solar/battery setup as well as restoring the original well on the property as well as a couple extra holding tanks. I'm trying to finish before the first blizzard our new livestock shelter since we prematurely jumped into cattle last year and the original barn needs significant work but currently is the only place I have for them. The other outbuildings are consumed by my wife's goat/duck/chicken hoards. Then next year will be a huge undertaking trying to fully restore our original 1890 barn between mainly myself and a couple buddies through the spring/summer. From there I just want to keep pushing the self sufficiency/small-livestock farm life. There's always going to be more I can do, more greenhouses, more fruit bearing trees, more off-grid infrastructure, and if I really run out of "important" things I'll start doing fun shit like building an underground bunker. The possibilities are limitless, I'll never get bored until I'm old and shitting my own pants and unable to keep up with my hobbies. At that point I just want to be aware and mobile enough to play old video games.
