Can climb up there without oxygen.
because it's big

looks flat
>>545821035No, the point is, it is not unreachable⦠but only a handful of people globally are good enough to climbing it
>>545820875In the Andes you need cocaine tea at the higher altitudes to breathe properly. Pretty sure the proclimbers know that trick
Mount Everest is now overrated, K2 and Annapurna I probably hold the crown as the hardest mountains to climb.
>>545821174And those that never made it are still there.
Around 400 people climb to its summit per year.
>>545821174You need to spend so much time at altitude. It's the way red blood cells take up and release oxygen, they do it by the pressure of oxygen they're around, they don't 'know' if they're in a lung or deep in the body. There's enough oxygen to brrathe but the pressure in the lungs is so low that the red blood cells think they're in the capillaries and dropping off the oxygen to muscles etc so refuse to take it up, they're waiting to get it from the lungs in normal conditions
>>545821174600-700 people reach the summit each year, the only reason more people don't do it is because it is prohibitively expensive to do so. it take about 2 months to do when you factor in acclimatization time and a climbing permit alone is $15,000. the average expedition price is ~$60,000.
