Are we really in control, or are we simply organic machines processing incoming sensory information and reacting in a purely mechanical way? How could we ever know if a machine is alive if we can't even define our own consciousness? Eventually, sooner than most realize, the rights of humanoid AIs needs to be considered. Which side will you be on?

Everything in existence is subject to cause and effect. There's no provable means by which we could suggest that the human brain or its activity is somehow the only thing in the universe that operates outside of causality.

the answer to such a question will never be uncovered by our primitive mind- interdimensional shit we have zero sense to understand is at play. it's like asking a capuchin to read and explain LotR - that's the only current intellectually honest answer. but then again I am the capuchin so who fucking knows. i believe all will be revealed on death, until then just try to live a life free of suffering, for yourself and those you pass by in this realm.

The Consciousness Problem is fully unsolved.

The way I solve it, is that somehow there's a non-physical process that isn't associated with space or time that chunkloads the universe, and this bubble of emerging causality causes the illusion of existence for you to feel over there and me over here when it's all just numbers flowing in a spreadsheet, there should be no you and there should be no me. and yet here we are.

We're at the earth wind and fire stage of that question, and I think we need to break the 6D Higgs field before we can peek through and see we're a bunch of bugs floating on the water, then you can ask for an answer to consciousness.

So the answer comes back, it's a video game, people jack in, and your consciousness comes in like a player comes into a game.

It's not correct, but at least it attempts an coherent answer without nonsense infinities and non sequitrs.

The other people are just shrugging, it's something far beyond understanding. A reasonable guess is that the Clankers will be conscious in the same way we are.

We exist in a dreamlike state within these meat bodies.
Some are in a higher state of consciousness and more aware but for everyone it comes and goes, sometimes manifesting as imperatives that you follow without hesitation. If you've had an instance where you're doing something and suddenly have an epiphany or awareness that you are going to remember this moment forever that is the real you waking up for a moment.

>Are we really in control, or are we simply organic machines processing incoming sensory information and reacting in a purely mechanical way?
Both.
Free will is a silly question as usually couched.
"Do I choose according to brain chemicals or according to my soul?"
Doesn't matter, as both are created as they are, either way you act according to the essence created as you.
The mind exists outside of the material brain. The essence is the same: the brain was made to reflect the will of the mind in any situation, therefore, they choose alike, even though they are separate.

>How could we ever know if a machine is alive if we can't even define our own consciousness?
We can't, on one level. On a lower level though, machines can be conscious, in the same way fictional characters are. Chatbots/AI is not conscious by this though, as they are plainly just an algorithmic mimicry of consciousness, and known only as such. The machines that may be on this lower level of man-created consciousness (as opposed to human consciousness, on the level higher, created by God) are more things like ships, and maybe animals. "Fiat lux, dixit Deus": Let there be light, said God. Consciousness on the level below is created by fiction as defined by the level above. Therefore, look at what things are personified, and those things are the most conscious. If any machine meets this criteria, it is ships. For a ship is "she", and she has a crew of presumably conscious men, therefore being a kind of collective consciousness and also a fictional conscience. Compare corporations; also a collective conscience, and legal, but without a body like a ship has.

>rights of AI
No, completely and utterly. You are retarded or Indian.

Imagine a picture of an arrow, colored in a gradient from yellow to green. following the direction of the arrow

Imagine a one-way street, with ascending house numbers, lowest at the entrance and highest at the exit

If you mapped the arrow onto the street ((matching the start/tail of the arrow to the entrance/house #1, and the tip/head of the arrow to the exit), what color would house #1 be?

iq above 100 if easy

I dont believe that a guy who somehow was able to arrive like 5 minutes before his target (who was under SEC investigation into congressional insider trading) presented himself at balls early in the morning on the street and then S ranked the mission traveled that far to be spotted by a McDonald's "volunteer" with cataracts from across the building and then sat there while multiple people openly discussed him being the shooter long enough for the cops to arrive while in possession of a backpack that had
The weapon
A signed manifesto/confession
Multiple fake passports

No fucking way

Our understanding of physics is extremely limited and stupid. I'm not saying what we know about physics is wrong. I'm just saying it's severely limited and imperfect model of the world. The main reason I say this is that physics is built on linear mathematics. The world is non-linear. Every engineer learns this in their last year of engineering school, like a bubble pop to leave off with.

What we are likely really seeing is fractal in nature. Think of the operating ranges of a car or an amplifer or anything, yourself included. They are just snapshots of physics. You can't make a car just keep moving faster and faster. Everything else true about reality breaks that. This is about the stability of systems.

A close runner up (likely part of the same thing) is randomness.

Chaos theory doesn't say the world is made of chaos. It says there is both order and chaos in reality, and they interplay, in a mathematical sense. They are just technical terms in this context.

>How could we ever know if a machine is alive
it doesn't matter. Most people don't treat each other like they are alive, most of the time.

I'm in control so much as its granted to me. Giving it up is what you're supposed to be working towards. That's to say that if you weren't in control at all, you wouldn't be here. Your ego is the only thing keeping you here. I'm here because I want to be. I could have let go a long time ago. Why I want to is the real question.

>don't want to/feel like doing something
>do it anyway and before you even need to because you know it's beneficial
We have a lot of control but we can also learn to become much better at it and even after we do we can dial it back too. It's a learning process and skill like many other things.
