Welcome to /pol/ - Politically Incorrect: This board is for the discussion of news, world events, political issues, and other related topics. Off-topic and /b/-tier threads will be deleted (and possibly earn you a ban, if you persist). Unless they are quality, well thought out, well written posts, the following are examples of off-topic and/or /b/-tier threads: >Red pill me on X. (with no extra content or input of your own) >Are X white? >Is X degeneracy? >How come X girls love Y guys so much? >If X is true, then how come Y? Checkmate Z.

Mmmmm...
It's... It's goin'...

Keep grinding anon
I know a chick who got a ‘hospitality management’ degree and she landed a corporate job that is completely unrelated. She got it due to connections
>>
>>545865704
The jobs reports are an obvious lie, and most new jobs being created pay at the absolute bottom of the scale.
Lucky me, I found a “forever job” where I’m just bored as hell 100% of the time and will never get fired until I eventually eetire, but I feel bad for all you dumb niggers who still have to look for work.
>>
Did end up getting a job after almost a year of unemployment despite having a strong resume and skills. I'm grateful, but it sucked and I'm still convinced the economy is fake and one big adult daycare larp.
>>
>>545865704
I got a offer post graduation after 7 months. It pays terribly idk why companies hate giving more than 55k when rent is at 1.2k
>>
>>545865704
Recruiters call me all the time and I turn them down. It really helps if you have an actual skill and years of experience.
>>
>>545867324
Your rent is quite literally not their problem
The guys up at the top likely likely hate each other as competitors, everyone else below is just nonexistent
>>

I'm going into Nursing so it won't be really hard to find a job at all, in my preferred field of practice might be annoying, but I can work on that over time when I work on getting my Masters to be an NP.

One of my employees is doing a BSN degree rn, but she was considering being a PA

>>545867462
That’s neat, hope you do well

It is when I am supposed to engineer their next gen product thats supposed to carry them and they hired me because I have experience in the field they wish to break in.

I've went in to do talks with PAs before at another college, in regards to things like patient care. Their scope of practice is very different. Being a nurse is a lot more hands on, and I want to be doing on-the-floor patient care and deal with those kind of issues for the most part.

Otherwise, India always exists (which costs less for them too!)

You only need $100,000 to $200,000 in stocks to live as a non government funded NEET. Yes you’ll live in an apartment but you can eat like a king and drink bottom shelf vodka while playing vidya and masturbating. It’s a better life than wage slaving.
>>
>>545867761
What do you do with that hobby?
Low key, if I ever had your skill set, I would make really sick ass animal enclosures for exotic pets
>>

My landlord in my early 20’s, awesome guy, he was a carpenter that invented a boat that was a floating duck blind that looked like a little island covered in cat tails and weeds. Somehow he got the patent for it and even though I’ve never seen it sold anywhere he’s made over a million on it. His prototype was in the garage next to my apartment.

I was looking for a job, and then I found a job, and heaven knows I'm miserable now.
>>
>>545865704
Got employed as a Software Engineering grad last year. Only took me ~600 applications, and I went to a top 10% uni and my team ranked top 3 for senior capstones. Though I didn't have any internships cause i had to do military bullshit over Summer. The biggest issue I have with h1bs is that most of them go into tech (and for junior positions), even though our new grads outperform India/China/Russia's per a Stanford study
>>
>>545870703
That’s nuts man
I’m sure the pay off is worth it though

I got a six fig job in IT at a DOD contractor. It’s not bad. But I miss remote work.

I tried to get a service technician job same shit I already did in university and they rejected me claiming too many applications. That was 4 months ago the ad is still up.
>>
>>545870750
I did jump straight to 6 figs, which is great, but I live in a high COL area and have to be a rent-slave so long as I live here since I wanna move back to my hometown.

Quit caring. Used to be stellar and learn a lot. I just don’t care. Salaries suck. Everything’s outsourced. Just want Babylon to fall already. I genuinely don’t care

Started a new job three weeks ago. Getting a software engineering job is easy. Where most people go wrong is they all think they're way more valuable than they actually are and they're all holding out for a unicorn offer that they were unlikely to get even at the height of the ZIRP free for all.
>>
It's pretty good right now but shows are probably going to dry up around Christmas but that's okay because I have several big checks from long gigs coming and I'm working with a couple new venues. A lot of guys laughed at me when I said I was going to get my theatre degree but now all my IT friends are jobless and I'm making money telling attractive women to stand closer to the light
>>
>>545872004
I used to do that. Made $150k+ with 15 holidays a year and 15 minutes of real work per week. I just couldn't keep it up, though, because I'm actually hyper-competent and I was dying of boredom. The issue I ran in to is that the private sector tech is much busier and quicker to adopt new tech. But it's run by millennial retards who hate their dad and women who hate men in general. I thought about going back into it, but I just didn't feel like doing all the travel.

>I'm making money telling attractive women to stand closer to the light
And, as an engineer, I make all of my money as an engineer. And I spend time off with those women as they complain about the creepy guy they have to work with.

Sounds like people have avoided enlistment mostly, congrats

Careers evolve into two paths:
>Networking
This means actually getting to know people, not exchanging business cards at a meetup. Friends, ex-coworkers, family connections, etc. Yes, it's nepotism, but there's a real value to it, which is trust and character reference. Resumes tell work history and maybe skills, not anything about personality which is often more important.
>Work experience and skill
Farther out from college you are the less this has anything to do with your degree and more to do with what kind of work you've actually done. This stuff's highly valuable when a company really needs it. But when a company's getting by without X role, they value interpersonal skills and people they have some connection to over somebody who's an expert at something, but a total stranger.

Either way, your actual degree means less and less the farther out you get from college.

Few people get good paying jobs fresh out of school. $55k isn't great, but you can manage it for a bit. Do a good job, seek a raise after the first year but keep the conversation professional not antagonistic. More importantly, start looking for a new job at your 1.5 year mark (do it while working, don't quit). Either you'll find something better and leave on decent terms with a good reference, or you'll end up getting a promotion in order to keep you from leaving.

I'll literally relocate anywhere in the US for a guaranteed general laborer position. Just tell me where to throw the application with my resume, and I'll be on my way the second you call me up.

I quit my job and am not gonna work anymore. I get tired just by looking at job postings. I don't care about anything or anyone anymore. Nothing interests me and most of all, I don't want to serve anyone but myself.

Graduated from community college 8 months ago with an AOAS in Computer Science and can't get anything.
Might just sign up for the military at this point.

Gave up after 6 months, might try again next year but the government keeps coming up with new plots or schemes, also keeps getting worse without an end in sight. I am curious to find out what changes happened since AI exploded into work but on the other hand, I rather never find out, wish I died when I got fired so I never have to experience work ever again too, lasted about a decade give or take but work has become intolerably gay faggot shit, it's so desperately retarded that you are expected to work for a living but also are never secure in work, not ever.

Not paying for a STEM degree out of highschool was one of the better decisions I made. I later got a useless bachelor's, mainly to do something different with my time.

I'm not going to say what the trade is because I don't want to dox myself.
