Hotdog and a handshake is generally worse, you are literally risking your life a for a dollar reward devaluaing your work, time and acknowledging that you are doing it all for the price of a hotdog. You shouldn't work just for exposure either, but lets say like you got a gig that's pays nothing or just enough for costs to go there so it's basically negative, if the exposure is big enough, like you get your shit in in some big event match, it might be good to take the costs on the chin and try to climb the ladder up or to make contacts - but this is very very situational and something you should only do in rare cases and be prepared to delete event managers contact number if they ring up again asking for more freebies.
