I never liked Rock at the time and after watching 2000 WWF again recently it changed nothing. Rock would routinely bury guys on the mic (sometimes out of nowhere, like completely burying Mosh and Crash Holly before the 2000 Rumble for example) and they would rarely get the opportunity to reply (unlike the previous few years where there was at least some back and forth). He got away with the thing that Jericho was doing when he first debuted that Undertaker had a melty over.

The Rock just executed his promos really well. I didn't realise until years later he was just being fed lines and set up to trash people and they're not allowed to respond. When he came back after his prime he was exposed as being a hack on the mic. He can't even do it anymore.
