I dunno why people always separate the reality era and new era especially when the new era is no longer new. It was the exact same shit. Or call it the “Sellout Era” or “Mainstream Era.” Or “Shareholder Era.”A good parallel is George Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney. Everyone kinda acknowledges the glory days are over, but since it’s an IP people know, it’s worth buying (if you’re Disney) and milking it for all it’s worth until it dies. Theme parks, toys, offshoot shows, crossovers, merch, gimmicks…. You’re basically just saturating everything everywhere while you can. This happens with lots of mature properties. Star Trek is also in this phase. So is Marvel.Late Stage Era.
