What match has done the most damage to wrestling as a whole?
>>20706574Osprey vs ricochet
>>20706574The first shitty match that Meltzer pretended was good and smarks believed him
Gunther tapping out to jey uso. A travesty.
>>20706574has to be something with kenny omega
>>20706574Wrestlemania 12 main event>first WWF "long = good" match>choosing Shawn over Bret>empowering the Kliq, killing WCW in the long term and giving us shit booking on top today
taker v hbk at mania
>>20706602So much to choose from.
Sayama/dynamitemalenko/guerrero taker/shawn
>>20706630KWAB
>>20706668Explain
>>20706574Rvd vs jerry lynn. Heyman just said as much and he is right
>>20706574The MOST damage? That's easy. Shawn vs Razor Ladder Match from WMX. It was the reason the TIT ladder match of Hardyz vs E&C was so brutal, they wanted to outdo it. And then the Dudleyz get added into the mix and they decide to outdo that. Then they run it back and have to outdo that. And so on and so forth until you basically have to kill yourself to make a crowd give a shit about the human stunt show that is a modern ladder match. Honorable mention to Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage from WM3 for being the RVD vs Jerry Lynn of 1987 which in and of itself gave us the super indie pose off to end a sequence.
>>20706715NTA but all three of those set a mold that many refused to break out of and focus on performing rather than working. Well, Shawn and UT are good workers but the point remains.
>>20706760Why didn’t any office or veterans try to wrangle them? It seems odd that everyone saw this and no one told them to cut this shit out
>>20706770
there are some good arguments itt, but i think the most harmful of all was the debut of nyla rose. the plague of troons in wrestling began there, and nothing has been more harmful than that.
>>20706790Really? Nyla Rose is a cancer but tranny fags don’t show up in mainstream wrestling nearly as much as flippy indie shit, finisher tests and high spots crap
>>20706574It's this. The indie standoff is one of the worst things ever.
>>20706834What makes me mad about what these modern workrate shitters do is the RVD one wasn't even bad. This was 20 seconds of normal wrestling moves quickly and cleanly chained together and the pose at the end was like 1-2 seconds. There isnt 8 Canadian destroyers mixed in with a bunch of overly setup bullshit that people stumble though, if not stand there waiting for the guy to get into position. And at the end they stand there for 20 seconds in the pose. Its so annoying.Just shows how much worse the average wrestler is now. RVD was 10 times the wrestler any of these modern 5 star farmers are.
the angle/benoit matches - near fall/finisher slophogan/rock - led to wwe trading on nostalgiaeddie/malenko in ecw - indieslop
>>20706574obvious answer is taker vs shawn mania 26. this started the finisher spam 'banger' era which is still ongoing
>>20706955How very boomer of Taker and Shawn to do that and then fuck off forever
It’s Undertaker-Mankind Hell in a Cell and it’s not even close. It made Mick Foley a thing when he would have faded into obscurity without it. It jumpstarted the tradition of giving wrestlers pity runs and main events and made fans feel like these retards need to rewarded for putting their bodies on the line.
>>20706574Probably the Sasha vs Bayley Takeover match
>>20708306It's probably this. I was thinking of saying the same thing. Also this >>20706584 . Inspired too many flippy shitters.
>>20708306Back in the day how did people react to this match ? Did news media talk about it ?
For me it’s the Taker / Shawn mania matches. Feel like the whole finisher spam bullshit took off and everyone even outside of WWE tried to copy it.
>>20706574The match where the Canadian Destroyer was debuted.
>>20706668>taker/shawnShawn inspired all the DOGSHIT flippy shitters so I agree
>>20706834RVD was like 6'2, insanely jacked, and was a shoot tough guy that slapped the shit out of Taz. Shame he inspired a bunch of skinnyfat geeks
Austin vs Owen cause his neck got broke
>>20708586And now he trains them to make more HBK clones
>>20706772Michael Hayes had the Hardyz doing insane ladder bumps at house shows. The attitude era was a weird time in regards to the old timers reining in the young guys.
>>20706574WrestleMania 25 HBK vs Taker>>20706615this too, I was so excited to watch the match as a kid after all the hype promos and highlights that I rented the tape and fast forwarded it to the last 5 minutes
>>20706574Roman v Cody WM40
>>20706584
Still no cope for Bray Wyatt/Seth Rollins. Jesus fucking Christ. Grim
there was a luchadore that would spin in a circle and kick his legs in the air and all the other wrestlers would do it too, even the heels would do it and get frustrated like they were compelled to do it against there will. This in the 90s when everyone still thought it was real.
>>20706801take it from someone whos seen it play out in multiple feds. once the troons come in, its over. WWE might be able to resist the rot by keeping it contained in AAA but that probably wont work forever.
>>20706955Punk had already normalized it in the wwe.
>>20706574ric flair vs ricky steamboat 1
>>20711099Original la parka? I remember that for some reason...
>>20711108when?
The business is the the shape it’s in because wwe wanted and got a monopoly but never took the responsibility of stewarding the industry after. Had there been dozens of OVWs throughout the country there would have been less parasitic wrestling schools who took 5k from a bunch of kids to let them jump onto crash pads and call themselves trained wrestlers.
SCSA vs The Rock at WM17. SC turned heel & it was all downhill from there.
>>20711057Wyatt had too many bad matches to list.
>>20711124I don’t think so. But I really done like lucha. I know it was in a video game like maybe wrestlemania 2000 with the create a wrestler moves. Only place I know I saw it was fmw, but fmw was not above just taking spots from wrestlers that were there.
