how do we save AEW and make it hot again? you cannot fire Tony as booker because that obviously cannot happen.
Book an actual story
>>20710471like what though
>>20710537anything else. Can you tell me one interesting story right now?
>>20710452Tony, I suspect this is you so the first order of business is get someone to bounce ideas off of, you only need the guy (the booker) and someone to give their input, maybe have that person write the format and you sign off on it.Second, start building guys up. You can't build the company solely around MJF. Promotions plummet when only one person is the guy the company is built around. You got wrestlers, you gotta kill the 50/50 booking style WWE does.Third, take AEW off the road for a while. Create a demand, maybe only go on the road for PPV, maybe make some of these special editions of Dynamite and spin them off as their own PPVs like Beach Break, Maximum Carnage (might be tricky because of Marvel copyrights), and Grand SlamFourth, watch Reality TV and see how they manage to blur the line between fiction and reality. Kayfabe ain't dead it just mutated.
>>20710549the story of who will be mjf opponent for wembley stadium
>>20710553Fifth, get rid of the ROH shit, give ROH to Will Washington or whoever to book, maybe make it into a developmental instead of a purgatory for people you have nothing for.Sixth, cut some of that bloated roster. Give them a severance package whatever just cut the roster down a bit.Seventh, stop signing every dimeless gaijin in New Japan, it's been a tremendous failure each time. Nobody gives a fuck they were in NJPWEighth, You don't need so many fucking championships, Ideally it should be- World Heavyweight Championship (Main belt)-International Championship (Secondary belt, the litmus test for potential main eventers)- TNT Championship (Midcard/Workhorse title, a step to bigger things)-World Tag Team Championship (Obviously)-Women's Championship
>>20710581Ninth, which ties into Six, you don't need so many women's wrestlers on the roster, ideally your women's division should be 10-12 women because women's wrestling doesn't really draw.Tenth, Get some managers for guys who just can't talk, there's gotta be some guys out there who aren't Don Callis or Stokley.
>>20710452It's simple, really.
>>20710553A lot of the guys here are older and are yess man you talk about reality shows like love Island? that’s really popular right now. taking the show off the road would look really really bad
>>20710616>taking the show off the road would look really really badNot any worse than the barely attended arenas or concert venues they're already struggling to fill.Plus it saves on travel costs
>>20710616>are yess man you talk about reality shows like love Island? that’s really popular right now.Exactly, and people find the dirtbags on shows like that captivating even if they know it's not really real. Wrestling could stand to learn from it.
>>20710639AEW has managed to pull off traveling the country using smaller venues if anything just stay the course.
>>20710651some sort of love Island gimmick with these hot young guys like Kyle or Kevin with skye and julia?
>>20710549Thekla vs Stardom. Ospreay teasing a heel turn with the deathriders.
>>20710549Death Riders vs. Don Callis Family could've been something if they had a reason to have a full faction warfare thing.Shit, it could be something as simple as both sides keep fucking the other out of title opportunities, one side decides enough is enough and boom, total war that could go for months and have the blow-off be Mox/Claudio/Garcia/PAC/Yuta vs. Fletcher/Okada/Davis/Doyle/Archer in Blood & Guts.
>>20710600>Get some managers for guys who just can't talkThat's going to be a fuckload of managers.
Don't be stupid. AEW is better than ever. It was just new when people thought it was great. Now its actually rocking.
>>20710549Ospreay-Swerve-The Death Riders & Kenny trying to get into the title scene
>>20710600>for guys who just can't talkCutting a promo isn't hard, you need confidence first and foremost and it feels like a lot of AEW guys aren't confident in their approach.Alternatively, get someone to coach wrestlers for promos. You got Samoa Joe, he's decent.
>>20710452>How do we make this shit sandwich taste better.Tony as booker is a massive problem and the first thing that needs to go.
>>20710831Charisma is 75% confidence, 10% conviction, and 15% reading the room.
>>20710452This looks like a Trannymite card from 2021 but everyone is 5 years older and have made no progression.
>>20710600Eleventh, if we have to have the Japanese talent, try to get them set up with learning English, that Shirabooba is the only one trying last I checked is a sad precedent especially if you wanna push guys like Takeshita and Okada as major players.Twelfth, Adopt a demographic to appeal to and run with it. Wrestling fans is way too ubiquitous. Thirteenth, Just get an on-screen authority figure be it Ric Flair or Sting or Mick Foley or Christopher Daniels. I don't see why that's such a no go.Fourteenth, Stop trying to beat WWE for a bit and focus on being your own thing
Jamie to get a title run or a tag title run asap so she can get back to the way she was.
>>20710908This will be Fifteenth, get Jamie Hayter back to normal because the current gimmick isn't working. Also the Mercedes experiment is a failure, she can still be pushed but she shouldn't be face of the division, she don't like that? She can take her ball and go home.
>>20710923Sixteenth, run some cities WWE has no interest in. You guys ran Edinburg in Texas so why not Wichita Falls, or Odessa or something.Seventeenth, lean into the inherent sex appeal of some of the women's roster. What do you stand to lose?Eighteenth, invest in homegrown talent because not every indy shitter is worthy of a contract because they just suck.Nineteenth, stop this weird obsession with pleasing Dave Meltzer, he's one guy, he won't turn on you for not catering to his tastes.
>>20710452More banger cards like pic related.
>>20710903>I don't see why that's such a no go.Have you not heard the story of why the Elite Invasion storyline was killed so early?
>>20711003stacked hot shot cards every single show could work but that’s short term gains
>>20710957Twentieth and possibly final, gimmick matches, since AEW has it's own War Games in Blood & Guts (personally I'd re-name it Blood & Steel, sounds cooler). I'd say steal the Bunkhouse Stampede too, or the barb wire cage, maybe even a take on Hell in a Cell. But, use them sparingly. There's already some good signs like with the Texas Deathmatch, Dog collar matches, and so forth. Resist the urge to use these gimmick matches on TV.>Inb4 WWE will sue if AEW invents their own HIACThey do war games under a different name, great artists steal, ect.
I'll add something just for the sake of discuss: This company tries way too hard for things that don't and shouldn't require a ton of effort, the latest example being the TBS Championship.Tony Khan's logic:>take one month to solve a problem (vacant women's TV title) by having a dozen midcard/jobber women face each other in qualifying matches while a more "prestigious" tournament is happening at the exact same time>don't use any of those women in any capacity after they've had their match, immediately cooling them down by the time the title match happens>he's satisfied because he's get a title match to pop the ratingAny other booker in history would've laughed at this. This isn't the world title where "credibility" actually kind of matters. It's the women's TV title. Just book at Battle Royal for the belt and get the show on the road.>Unimportant but relevant: AEW has knack for having decent battle royals>Winner gets an immediate boost to their popularity>Set up a program with the runner up, or some face/heel feud that existed prior to the battle royal for the first shot at the new>Have said title match after the factI didn't waste your time for a month. I resolved the problem in one match, set up another 2-3 weeks of TV, ended it with another title match (Two Bumps in a month instead One Bump), and didn't kill anyone's heat waiting around. Sometimes the best solution is the obvious one.
Just back from the shite Scotland game what have i missed?
>>20710553>take AEW off the road for a while. I think you mean Dynamite and Collision? I guess but where would they go? Daily's Place is closed for renovation so they'd have to pick somewhere else in Florida.>Create a demandCould work in theory, but depends on if the product goes on an upswing in quality and interest.
>>20710553>kill the 50/50 booking style WWE does.I've never understood 50/50 booking, how does it get guys over? It feels like all it does is kill momentum.
Pick 12-16 guys. Have them win consistently and convincingly on tv and face each other on ppv. No women’s division. No fake storylines where wrestlers are breaking into houses and burning them down on video.
>>20711747I don't know, home invasion angles can be done well, it's just that it needs to be done during a particularly aggressive feud.Car crash TV type angles do have a place in wrestling.
>>20711747>No women’s division. Then what do you use the multitude of women for? Sexy valets?
>>20711803No you fire those bitchesPeople who want sex appeal are porn addicted gooners.
>>20710471>That would never work!
>>20711747>burning them downNo that shit was cool, it felt like an angle that'd be done in '97-'06
>>20710452>you cannot fire Tony as bookerThen saving AEW is literally impossible because Tony's the root of all its problems. If he can't be fired, and if he refuses to accept the fact he's bad at running a wrestling promotion and he won't step aside, then there's absolutely no helping it.
>>20710452>you cannot fire Tony as booker because that obviously cannot happenWhy would I fire the guy bankrolling me? If I have to keep Tony as booker then you get him someone who'll just give him ideas, like Tony will be McMahon and this other person will be Russo.Clearly the Bucks don't do this nor does Kenny.
>>20710827>AEW is better than everPretending AEW's better than ever while it actually keeps performing worse means you're trying to kill it desu
>>20711894>No that shit was coolNah it wasn't. Anybody familiar with Tony's booking style knew that Swerve breaking into Hangma'am's house and Hangma'am burning down Swerve's house would never actually go anywhere and be quickly forgotten because Tony has ADHD. And sure enough, that's what happened. Then a few months later Hangma'am and Swerve become friends like they never did any of that extreme shit.
>>20711803Given that some of the women on the roster are better promos, sure why not?You just gotta find which wrestlers are better suited for being managed by which woman, for example - who benefits from Megan Bayne being their valet? Who benefits from Mina Shirakawa, who benefits from Thekla
>>20710957>run some cities WWE has no interest in.For what reason?
>>20710452I volunteer to be consultant then, like Chicago Phil, but without the neurotic retard behaviorTony, if this is you posting this thread, find my Twitter where I lurk.
Hire me and have Queen Aminata dominate me in the ring for 2 hours every Wednesday. I don't know if it will pop ratings but do it anyway.
>>20712299that's not at all what happenedAEW did a number on your mind lmao
>>20710827Nobody believes this. Congratulations on the raise from Tony, though.
>>20710452Dissolve it and reform it. The AEW brand is forever associated with gay shit in the ring and transgender women's champions.
>>20710452Take some of the twinks and get them on GearIf a meathead like Brian Cage can do moonsaults there's no excuse to have the body of a teenage boy.
>>20710471Like 9 years of coconut theatre?
>>20710452Thats way too many fuckin guys for one random card
>>20712775not enough dude wipes for ya?
>>20710537when ppl bring up muh stories they mean phoney wwe shit
>>20710581>Sixth, cut some of that bloated roster. Give them a severance package whatever just cut the roster down a bit.it is unreal how much talent tony has contractedif i counted right there are 190 performers (one hundred and fucking nintety) contracted to AEW - this isn't even including all of the ROH only wrestlers he has in that toyboxyou could cut almost half of that and nothing would change except the company would get closer to making a profit - and this is a pretty conservative cut, you could go harder and probably do a straight 50% cut of the roster
>>20712776Huh? I just mean its too many people for one night. How could you be invested in any of them?
>>20712795Some of the guys and gals crossed out on here I'd keep others I'd get rid of but yeahAlso>Mina Shirakawa >Face>When all of her best work is as a narcissistic heel
>>20710452They actually fucking put this guy back on the show? Tony has it coming at this point
>>20712299Levels of autism I thought weren’t possible where someone is obviously trolling for (you)‘s but still watches something sparsely to sound like they keep up with it. You're a weird one.
>>20710452>mfw you think AEW can be saved
>>20712795There's a couple of deep cuts in here that I've forgotten about but atleast would recognize if I've seen them before but I legitimately have no idea who this bitch is.
>>20712795I wouldn't gut the lower card like that, you need some curtainjerkers and jobbers.
>>20710452I asked Nick LoPiccolo that exact same question on my podcast. Guess what he said?!
>>20710452>how do we save AEW and make it hot again?A promotion/franchise/entertainer that's never been #1, only gets so many chances at being hot, before people stop caring and the window closes.
>>20712585He does it for free
>>20712792i know
>>20710452>how do we save AEW and make it hot again? What do you mean again? When was aew ever hot?
>>20712537>>20712818>I know, I'll lie in defense of AEW>surely that'll workSwerve and Hangma'am's feud was dropped cold after they had a handful of matches(one of which included the infamously retarded blood drinking spot), some time passed, and then they became friends which made no sense considering everything they did to each other. Their story fizzled out into a wet fart that anybody familiar with Tony's booking could see coming from a mile away.
>>20710452strip the title off the Bald baiting cuck and I'll watch there's plenty of guys the title should be on not fuck MJF lmao

>>20714238yeah that'd be nice also takeshita, okada, Fletcher anyone of those would be better MJF is literally a nigga on repeat same shit everytime also yet another Cody shitter stinking up wrestling.
>>20714251yeah I love AEW but MJFs boring ass needs to fuck off I skip every show he's part of.
>>20714274>>20714268hello samefag
>>20710452don't let Tony book or be involved in the creative process in any way whatsoever
>>20714322he’s the boss and creator you can’t really do a coup on him…
>>20714308Hi
>>20712762No because if they did that over a million people would watch
The Americano feud gave everyone the template for how a main event feud that should be taken seriously should look and it was between two comedy midcarders. You wanna make people care about the matches on your show, do what they did.
>>20714074again, not what happened. actually watch the product if you're going to seethe this badly over the booking.
>>20714074Sorry you got angry about what Twitter told you happened on a TV show you don't watch but you could always just shut up about it. You don't have to watch but don't pretend you know the stories if so.
>>20715432Hangfag sucks and his "redemption arc" was the most overrated storyline in the last 10 years. Sorry i had to be the one to tell you. When Meltzer finally croaks, a lot of people will finally have their eyes opened when they have to think for themselves. It will be like the ending of "They Live" and suddenly all the AEW fans will realize they have been watching dogshit booked by a retard the whole time.
>>20710603They've already failed her so badly>Didn't strike when the iron was hot with her beating Athena ages ago>Already brought her up to Dynamite just to lose some shit>Wasting away back with Athena down in ROH still years laterEven if she wins the belt off Athena it's not going to matter at this point. If they bring her over to Dynamite it's just like yeah okay. Any hype around her is all but gone at this point because Tony dragged his heels and can't book the women for shit
>>20715725ok how you know?
Casual fan here who keeps trying to get into AEW. It has its strong points and weakness’s. They have some of the most athletic wrestlers and moves. But they have too many multi man matches where they lose appeal quick. They essentially do a survivor series every show and that shit gets old. Then in the multi man they do too many orchestrated spots. They desperately need a ring agent to lay out matches. They are constantly stepping on each others dicks and each wrestler lays out their own match instead of an agent . Why is Ftr doing a scorpion deathlock and then later on Darby and sting use the move for the ppv finish. Who the fuck let ftr use it earlier. Speaking of using soneone eise finisher they also do that too much. When everyone uses everyone else’s moves it stops making your finisher unique and it matters way less.
>>20716144that does happen every show that’s something minor. I feel like only hard-core fans would catch or notice.
