Why are y'all watching wrasslin' when you can just watch real fighting?
>>
>>20783100
Ok so what's stopping the opponent from kicking his leg and biting it.
>>
>>20783113
the rulebook
>>
Only watch pro-Trump combat sports like UFC and WWE.

This shit is gayer than AEW kek

You're closeted

Pro-wrestling was real originally and had a bunch of rules that don't exist anymore.
The reason it became what it did is that real fights are often boring while a scripted fight can actually give the audience their money's worth.

this. real sports are fucking boring. when was the last time any of these "real athletes" cut a good promo?
>>
>>20783779
What you said, it’s like that. Except the exact opposite. No one gave a fuck about giving the audience their moneys worth. The point was pilfering as much money possible from an audience. A real fight has too many unpredictable variables. A worked fight, promoted correctly with the right bookmaker can cause literally everyone to lose except the promoter. Then you pack up shop and do the next town with the next batch of dumb hick rubes. Appreciating pro wrestling for its artistic or entertainment value is the equivalent of thinking scratch off lottery tickets are works of art or the drawing of numbered balls in a lottery is captivating.

When’s the last time a wrestler cut a good promo that he didn’t read off his hand? One that wasn’t written by Brian Smegmasteinberg or some womeme who was laid off from a Chuck Lorre sitcom?
A UFC guy, a World Cup soccer player, fucking Kaitlin Clark in the WNBA could make a retard chuckle with a few dedicated writers and barely memorized lines.
>>
>>20783826
I mean, yeah, that was the initial reason it happened.
But in terms of what it's grown into, you can absolutely get more of your money's worth out of a scripted fight than a real fight. A real fight can be over in 30 seconds, and when it's a fight between two people who know what they're doing there's not really a whole lot happening that would be noticeable to the untrained eye because one mistake will ensure it's over quickly.
Compare that to pro-wrestling, where, at least today, it's about putting on an athletic show built around developing storylines.
The question, after all, wasn't why people watched pro-wrestling back in the day when it first started getting rigged - it was about why people watch it today, when it's developed well past that. So yeah, I skipped a few steps in the story answering that.

I get what you mean brother. I don’t disagree that a worked fight can tell a story in a way that a real one almost never can. The stars have to line up in an unlikely way to even approach something like storytelling during the fight. Something like Ali-Foreman in the Jungle or on a much smaller scale than that Conner/Khabib or those Pereira/Adesanya fights

I was more so saying that promoters have a sort of negative view towards the consumers of their own product and even after gambling and carnival shows turned into TV ratings and arenas there is still that carny mentality of getting one over of the audience. Without starting fight console war, Ironically one of the least liked promoters in the history of the business (Tony Khan) probably cares more about the stuff happening in the ring and worrying g about providing a high quality for its own sake than almost any other big promotion. Being the son of a billionaire frees you up in that sense.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. You were 100% correct and it was an excellent point.

>Pro-wrestling was real originally

Maybe not what we call "pro-wrestling", but what I was getting at was that it was rooted in a real "sport." Way back in the day, back in the 19th century, they'd have competitions where people would do combinations of Greco-roman wrestling, collar-and-elbow, and catch-as-catch can. These competitions had rules (usually local) and developed into local carnival attractions. As part of the carnivals, they became rigged to varying degrees but the initial competitions before that were real because people have always rough housed for entertainment when there was nothing better to do.
So I don't exactly get what your problem is with what I've said here.

why are we reposting threads???

this is what pro wrestling should be

Off the top of my head Connor literally rapes any wrestler(except the Hulk) when it comes to promos and you can't even understand like 75% of what he's saying at any point in time because of the accent.
