I prefer the *style* of the program (mostly matches, not too much emphasis on talking) but the cards themselves need better structure (I shouldn't be seeing the same spot in multiple matches). The main event needs to be serious and worth sticking around for throughout the show.I'm sure there are people in AEW who understand all of this. But Tony certainly isn't listening to them.
Being real, AEW was at its best when it felt more like Nitro. Sure, we'd have some shit like Dork Order that'd kill everything but even that felt like something out of nowhere. It just doesn't have that feeling anymore. I think Tony ran out of ideas by 2022 and realized he should've given the belt to someone that wasn't Hangman, because it killed momentum. It really should've been the first sign that giving the belt to the IWC's guy instead of ... fucking Danielson straight off of Main Eventing Mania and running that with Kenny full time. Tony should've stopped booking by Brawl Out. He needed to pass it to someone else for like a three years instead of insisting on running everything. THen, he has an idiot like Meltzer in his ear telling him he's doing good, and it's like, the company is way under where it was in 2021-2022. And remember those were partial pandemic years, and they were still selling out shows. I'd give AEW a shot if Tony straight up just acts like Vince and lets someone else book.

One of AEW's biggest problems is that Tony is obsessed with the perceived quality of his booking. He thinks it's so good that he will. not. change. course. under any circumstances. Like, there are times when it might be more exciting to pivot to something else than the match that he's been building up to for the past six months but it won't happen. Not for your life.And the bigger problems there are that you can see his booking coming from a mile away and it just makes everything that happens until that payoff predictable. That's bad in a fake sport that thrives off of surprises and unpredictability.

You can’t. The talent isn’t there and it’s not out there to be hired. Even if you send Tony to rehab and you send in a great wrestling mind to book it you’re just going to frustrate the talent and the current audience with nothing to show for it. Guys don’t want to wrestle like they’re trying to win a match, so no storyline is ever going to get over. You’d basically need to shut it down for a couple of years to train a new roster and run a bunch of little shows at a loss so they can get experience. But at that point it’s not aew.
Bring in a bunch of MMA guys and put them over the top wrestlers.
