>>20897065Any discussion of the best joshis of all time that doesn't include her in at least the top 10 is alarmingly incomplete. Iconic look, great worker and super important for bridging the gap to american audiences. Big ups

I have a legitimate fear that I will have similar cancer as her. Otherwise, I mean she was cool...
>>20897673She never had cancer what are you talking about? She suffered from liver cirrhosis from excessive drinking.
>>20897065One of the best, very high on my list.
>>20898126Maika needs to slow down her drinking or she have the same fate

>>20897241kinda attractive in an oriental way
>>20899438Crazy what you could get away with saying back in the dayShame we can never go back
One of the best to ever do it. She did so much heavy lifting for ajw getting them from the crush gals to the work rate era.
>>20897428I watch modern joshi and enjoy it but any all time top 10 list that doesn't mostly (if not completely) contain women of that era is alarmingly incomplete. Whole different level and I honestly feel bad for anyone who claims to be a wrestling fan who refuses to watch the work they did because "womeme".
>>20897065All I know is that when I watched wrestling in her era, and up to 2000, Japanese women's wrestling was hard hitting. Then when I came back and saw these hyped up new Joshis, I was disappointed.
>>20899522Modern joshi suffers from the same problem as modern pro-wrestling as a whole - with some exceptions, very little is hard hitting anymore. There is a lot more concern about the long term effects of this stuff than there was in the past. No one wants to work particularly stiff.I like modern joshi well enough, at least the bigger matches. Some of it can be hard hitting - I've seen women's chests turned to hamburger from chopfests just like men do. But no one's in the entire business is doing things like they used to and that's why it can never be as good as it once was.
>>20899522That’s modern wrestling as a whole. I have stardom a chance and it’s probably the best promotion going. Out of the 5 shows I watched I only skipped 2 matches cause of some kayfabe shattering botch or way to obvious cooperation. But even if it was all really mediocre it at least wasn’t constantly offensive. I’m choosing to rewatch all my favorite 80s-00s wrestling instead, but if my fandom was centered around anticipating new shows and talking about them online stardom would be the promotion I’d pick.
>>20899533>hard hittingIt's a work, anon. Stop being a selfish mark
>>20899533wrestling has to die then come back through combat athletes working matches because theres no money in getting crippled but with PPV being a thing its almost worth it for the top guys to risk it so an organic rebirth is gonna be difficult
>>20899679Yeah, that's where I'm at too. I've been watching pro-wrestling off and on since the 80s. At this point, I mostly just watch NJPW and Stardom. That sounds intensive but it's actually quite casual because I don't watch every minute of either of them. I might put on a show but it's mostly background and I only pay attention to the semi and main event, if even that. Only bigger shows are worth more attention than that. One might rightly ask, "Why not watch WWE or AEW the same way," but the fact is they both demand more of my attention than I'm looking to give and usually end up disappointing me in ways that Stardom and NJPW don't.Stardom undercards tend to be sloppy and that's not mentioned enough. They're rookies so one ought to excuse that but it's easy to see why someone checking it out for the first time might be turned off.>>20899692You're acting like I'm making demands when I'm not. It is what it is and I enjoy modern joshi for what it does. But you'll never convince me Syuri vs Utami or Saya vs Tam are on the same level as this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzD_QyYB45s
>>20897065one of the only female wrestlers that has ever actually been intimidating. bull was easily the best big female jap wrestler, and surprisingly she was not ugly or a lesbian.
>>20899734She’s not gay? She got into golf after retiring.
joshi legend threads > joshi goon threadsthe goon threads are getting way out of control.
>>20899742She's been married for almost 20 years. Her husband is one of the greatest Japanese bass anglers of all time and owns a fishing tackle company.
>>20897065The story she told about being so crippled after her WCW run that she decided to commit suicide. Her mom paying a surprise visit to her home was the only thing that stopped her. I always wonder what her WWF run would have been like if she didn't get busted for coke.
