A lot of guys have made the jump up the card by switching from tights to trunks but there have been countless exceptions, such as picrel, Shawn, Bret, Roman, Seth, etc. You've also got guys who used to wrestle in conventional trunks and switched to shorts like Cena and Brock and saw more success from it.
